NEW Kessil Light - 10 Years?!?!

My guess is no fan, passive cooling, with all those vents. Less to go wrong. There's a least one knob, probably two. They more than likely updated the spectrum and diodes to the latest and greatest. Shadowing still an issue.....
The MUST have added wifi as well. The daisy chain thing is way obsolete.
And an app that works as stated previously here.

Yes also hoping they changed the spectrum.

Looks like a new controller was built for the new light (tuna blue & tuna sun). In the video there was no mention of the 0-10 volt controlling option (which kind of stinks but I get it). The lights can still be controlled using the 2 dials on the top, but for more advanced programming the controller is required. The end of the video mentions an optional wireless addon with an app to control the lights.

I am excited to see that they did add AP700 like colors to the 360's and they no longer offer the W and N lens it is now a standard wide lens.

Now the most curious part, price point per light and the price of the controller and/or wireless control!

So they're chasing another wifi / app solution. Hopefully they've learned something in the last three years on what not to do, and I hope MACNA draws out some concrete answers on controller support with this new klink.

To bad they cant fit built in WIFI to each light.

I understand the need to keep it simple/smaller but it seems like more of a money grab to me than anything else. I like my Two A160s but will probably switch brands when the need to upgrade arises.

Hemispherical lens will give a better spread but that vent is going to suck up a lot of salt, lets hope the interior walls are all heat sinks.

This is not a new light, just a mid-cycle refresh. Not impressed Kessil. You could have done so much more. If I was going to buy this the only thing I could reuse is the mounting arms I already have. Those controller cords I'm sure will be proprietary that only you will sell and if I want WiFi control I'll have to spend even more money.

Enjoy your new lights folks I'm sure they'll grow lps/sofities with ease and easier sps with good placement. If anyone wants to come over to the T5 side I'll be waiting.

I’ve used the ap700 interface, it wasn’t awful but it wasn’t great. I didn’t use it long term to really form an opinion. I like the rotund apex dashboard for my 160’s.

I’d be thrilled if the new light is a 360 upgrade with the colors that ap700 can be tuned to run!
If I had to mess with it often it would be a annoying but most of us rarely change their settings.

Hopefully they are available at MACNA in which case I'll be leaving some empty room in my suit case!

Since kessil is well known at trade shows I wonder if booths will be setup with them! haha Wishful thinking, I won't be there but I know I'll see some pictures and videos of the event. I am still anxious to hear the price point, with the A360WE being $349 is it safe to assume these will be $400 a light? Or will they be more? Hard to imagine this light being in the $500+ range.

I would assume with the current a360we's being dropped to $349 I would think $399 would be fair. As much as I would like them I'm not sure if I can justify them over the current 360's with anything over $450. A bit disappointed their old controller is now outdated, I wonder if there will be a way to update it to have the new X interface. Either way I'll still buy several, dang Kessil Koolaid.

According to Reef Builders they won't be out until mid-november......
I wonder if I offer to buy the Kessil people drinks at macna they'll let me buy some early....

Why add a wifi to each light. If I buy 3 360x units why would I want or need to pay for 2 extra wifi modules. I like it better this way. A cheaper unit and If you want wifi buy an addon.

I hear you. But at 100 dollars for the current controller, plus 3 link cables at 20 bucks (60 bucks total), plus the new wifi module to add to the controller. Probably around 100 but i'll say 50 for arguments sake. That's another 210 dollars to get your lights to function like any other modern LED.

On a bigger tank I could see this strategy making a lot of sense, but on a smaller tank 1 or 2 maybe even 3 lights that extra 200 bucks is half the price of a whole light.

It just seems like with current level technology having a built in wifi module to each unit would cost much less to us and to them.

But they pay people to come up with this stuff so I must be wrong.
