New live rock. What are all these?

Is there a way to remove them rather than manually pulling them or relying on a urchin ?

sometimes if we strictly rely on one animal to control something it’s not always guaranteed they will .
for example aptasia
Often recommended to get peppermint shrimp but rarely do they actually eat them all.

Bubble algae they say emerald crab will take care of them . I have had bubble algae for years along with a emerald crab . Which never goes to that section of the tank .

The point I’m trying to ask . What options are there to control it in the future feom returning ?

I’m not sure. I’m so new to this- I have so many good hitchhikers on the rock including a clam so I don’t want to dip the whole thing and kill the good bacteria or animals.

you dont need to dip the whole rock…you dont need to toss the rock…the rock is fine…
Just grab some tweezers and remove it. 99% of the time they will not become a massive problem. Ive had them in literally every tank ive ever had. They eventually disappear.

Don’t start buying things before you’ve even had an issue…
Buying a cuc member that eats it is a horrible idea. Again, you are looking to prevent it coming back before you’ve tried removing it, seen if it comes back, comes back so fierce you can’t keep up, etc…

Like aiptasia, the best option is manual removal, not buying something that eats them. They are incredibly easy to kill. I’ve been to other peoples houses and they say they are battling an aiptasia problem and have bought filefish, mutiple different shrimp, copperband, and nothing eats them. I stare right at them…right in front of the tank… easily accessible. The guy then says “i don’t know what im going to do about them”, and then sits on the couch and starts watching tv…Blows my mind.

Hahaha that’s what I was thinking! I can pluck those things off with tweezers so quick. If they come back, I’ll just do it again. Easy and takes no longer than testing my water does.

Thank you. Do I just rip them out and hope they don’t grow back? I’m gonna do some manual removal of bad stuff tomorrow.

I ripped out handful after handful and it would come back three fold. Manual removal, for me, seemed to increase growth. However, according to the information that was sent to me, it sounds like in the majority of cases it is self limiting. Seeing the picture you posted was like a gut punch to me. I don’t want you to go through what I did.
