I just bought a 6 bulb current nova extreme pro what can I reall not keep in the tank? And I am looking for a new skimmer? I also have 19 frags coming Tuesday so I would be willing to trade if possible!

Well my tank has been up and running for a month. Just finished testing my water and Im not getting any nitrite showing at all yet. I have between 5 and 10 ppm for nitrate. There may be a little ammonia but it may be at 0. Im getting tired at looking at a empty tank!

Well I really didnt test it the first 2 weeks I had it cause I was waiting on my kit to get here. But Im guessing it went up then. Why is there a problem?

No problems. You probably did have ammonia in those first 2 weeks. And your nitrites were probably just getting started around that time. More than likely you are good to go.

yea i would still start slow and add a couple small fish and thats it. you tank still wont have massive ammounts of bio bacteria to handle a lot of bioload the rock will have produced very little. i would have added something like a sixline wrasse or a cheap clown after about a week. and a full tank of corals takes time to grow unless u buy colonies .. in which case you want a well established system before u go down that road .. and even for your first corals stay away from most sps thay just wont make it exept for maybe birdsnest. i would start with some softies like mushrooms and zoas just to make sure stuff is going to live before our fragswap that way u wont have a big nasty suprise after buying a ton of corals and loosing them due to some issue your not aware of where as if you toss in some mushrooms/zoas and they die you know youve got problems.

^agreed^ please take heed to these suggestions. Remember, corals are animals that require much better water quality than fish. I would stick with star polyps, mushrooms, or the leather as first corals. Zoas can be finaky sometimes if you don't know what they need.

NICE! Tank is coming along. I recognize that frag disc and rubberband method on the xenia. Did you get that at the critter?

Just some fore warning: Unless you want that xenia all over the entire tank, you might want to isolate it on a rock in the sand.

Yep its from the Critter, you know who sold it to them? I got a good deal on it so thats why I wanted to try it out. I think it looks pretty cool too. Ill have to figure out a place for it because I dont want it all over my tank. The guy said to keep it pretty far up for for good lighting and water movement though.
