Any and all members that have recently joined or just joined at the frag swap, please post here. We would love to know more about you and your tank. Specifically any questions you might have about the club, meetings, and especially anything about your tank. Welcome!!!

Also, when you get a chance, edit your signature, with your actual name. This helps everybody to get to know who people are.

Howdy,

I joined up at the frag swap but was only there for 10 minutes (working). I did a brief introduction in my 20 g build thread. I'm up in the White house area but was raised in Nashville and work there. My only questions are: How often do you all have meetings? What is expected of me as a new member? and is it ok to ask Newb questions in the MTRC forum area? :)

Rob,

1. Meetings are monthly. usually at a member's house or at a Local fish Store
2. hang out, enjoy and learn if you want to. No major expectations... Unless you really want to then you can empty the trash and wipe down the tables after every meeting.. LOL.
3. ASK. that is the only way you will learn. there is an unmeasureable amount of informaiton in the club. I have over 15 years of reefkeeping experience. several others have WAY more than that even.

Honestly don't even bother posting your new by questions anywhere but here. In my experience these guys here practice what they preach, where you may get more answers on the main forum , here your advice can be backed up by hey why don't come by after work and look at my tank to see how it worked . Where in the main forum u just get answers and no info to back it up. These guys here are great. There is only one question here to avoid and that is which is better algae turf scrubber or protein skimmer ,never ask that question some one might get fragged over it ......................

Haha welcome and enjoy

Well noted, I would hate to end up glued to a piece of base rock.

great...he mentioned ATS and skimmer; let the games begin. j/k. Reefer5060 made the best point I've heard. I've learned more about this hobby by hanging out at people's houses and checking out their tank, equipment, etc. and seeing first hand how it all works.

Yeah, the first time I saw a picture in a thread of a plumbed sump with a manifold and various reactors and baffles.....Needless to say, I was baffled. Then I went to a few guy's houses, and it suddenly all made sense.

Hey there! Glad you joined MTRC! Welcome to R2R!! You get two in one! ;)

hey guys

my name is victor obviously. I am new at salt water in general. i had a 14g bio cube and just moved all of it over to a 125g with a 55g sump. bought 2 36 inch deep blue 4 bulb t5s. a skimmer from smyrna reefer. now that i have done all that it is time for me to move it all. im moving out of my apartment in smyrna to a house in murfreesboro beside rockvale elementary school. I def need a lot more rock for my 125 so if you have some let me know. the frag swap was sweet. all i got was a tube anenomie and some macro algae as my 125g isnt up to par just yet. i have seen alot of you guys post and threads before i joined and you guys seem to have a lot of helpful info. im glad i could join and hope to see yall at the next meeting

Alright Victor, so it sounds like you are about to setup a sweet new tank. Do you have any kind of stock list or wish list for it yet?

hello I join at the meet also, looking forward to meeting with you guys. I live in Clarksville and have an electronic background so I like doing a lot of DIY projects. So let me know when the next meeting and I will try to make it. I came with Luis up there over the weekend.
