New Members that joined at the Swap

I have a 135g and a 90g. The 135g been up since Nov and the 90g about a month and half. All the frags I got at the meet went in the 90g. I also just run a algae scrubber on both tanks. The 135g been sit up before in California back in the 90's when I only used a scrubber there also. Move back to Tenn. and just got back into the hobby.

Hey all,

Mark here, joined at the swap. It was my first swap and it was awesome. I think Igot my wife hooked because she is now wanting to go to the one in Knoxville next. I currently have a 54 corner with 10gal sump, 125w LED lights, etc and lots of LR and lots of various corals and it has been setup for about 3mos now and doing well. Also have a 55 gal frag tank started but need to upgrade the lighting and add a sump/refugium. I also am getting ready to setup another 75gal reef(money permitting):squigglemouth:. I need to move some stuff from the 54 corner to it since it's getting a bit crowded now. I live out in Fairvew and work in Nashville. Looking forward to the next meeting so I can meet some you.

Hey guys, my name is Daniel and I joined saturday. Before I tell you more about me and my setup I wanted to take time to say that the swap was unbelievable. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I definetly walked out of there alot broker than I already was. Plus I won the Forest Fire and Superman Montis so all in all it was a great day for me. If this swap is any indication of how this club is run, I look forward to being a part of this for a long time. You guys ROCK!

Like I said my name is Daniel, I live in Mt. Pleasant, TN. I am a Biomedical Technician for Fresenius Medical Care which is a Dialysis clinic. I have a background in electronics. I'm married and got 1 on the way. I'm new to reef tanks and have alot to learn.

Now for the good stuff, I've been running my 20 gallon reef tank for about 3 months now. I have a 4 bulb T5 light fixture with Geisman bulbs, a subcurrent filter for mechanical filtration, a CPR Aqufuge Refugium with built in skimmer, about 45 lbs of rock total, and a MP-10. I have about 50 corals made of a mixture of LPS, SPS, Softies, Non-Photosenthitic, and Clams. I have a snowflake clown, a sixline, and a yasha goby. I'm in the process of putting together a frag tank, which I could really use some ideas on as well.

I look forward to meeting all of you at our next meeting. A couple of questions I have are 1) Will I get something telling me I'm a member now? 2) Will I get notifications on meetings? and 3) Was I a little long winded for my first post?

Welcome guys! Glad you had a great swap and joined a great club! Welcome to R2R!!

Good lord, I cant seem to respond to all these posts at once. I am super stoked for all you guys joining! I am starting to think that we might be outgrowing having meetings at people's houses.:squigglemouth:

The next meeting is at Jay's and then at the Aquatic Critter, so we should be okay for a couple of months.

dwilliams87, thanks for the awesome compliment about the swap. The BOD from last year, which just changed hands, was responsible for puting together such an awesome swap, and I was just lucky enough to help out.

For new members that just joined, we would love to see pics of your tank/setup. There is a thread for pics that hasn't been updated for a while so you can post them there.

So, how many people normally show up to meetings? I'd probably be interested in hosting at some point if I can accomidate everyone. In the words of Robert Palmer " Might as well face it, I'm addicted to Reefs" or something like that.

It can be from anywhere between 15 to 40 people. And this does not include children and wives. It kind of depends on the day and location. We try to alternate Saturday and Sundays because of those who have to work on the weekends.

I met a new member at the tail end of the swap. a Blonde lady who was from Tullahoma. she said she joined at the swap. for the life of me, I cannot remember her username...

Nice, I probably can't host that many. Ill be at the May meeting. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. I'm sure I'll recognize some faces from the swap. I was there all day.

Those bugs are called hydroids and they should go away as the tank cycles. they look like they have tiny little white legs. good luck and welcome to mtrc

I like to hear that. I'm looking forward to meeting you too fellow reef addict.

Alright Victor, so it sounds like you are about to setup a sweet new tank. Do you have any kind of stock list or wish list for it yet?
I want a macro tank with very few select corals. I think I am going to stick with recordia, shrooms, some lps, def lots of feather dusters and gorgonia. not to interested in sps unless it is huge and i dont have the wallet for that right now. as far as fish i want small schools. any recommendations on several schools that i can keep together would be appreciated

Victor. the best part of SPS is that it grows. some very quickly. buy a small frag for $10-$30 and let it grow out.
