Just getting the last finishing touches on my qt tank done. Stand I built yesterday, tank and equipment ready to roll today, organized the living room to do so. I have a reef octopus hob skimmer for it, a titanium heater, going to put in a hob filter for the bacteria to grow on, as well as 2 small powerhead, walmart kind.

Coral qt?
For now both until I can get more systems online....I have a frag tank I want to incorporate with another tank. I currently have a 55 set up. Amd what I believe to be a lot of diatoms. I'm using rodi water with spectrapure di with silica buster. But I believe it's just part of the new tank....it's only been set up for about a month.

Yea, your prob correct. Def read Randy's silicate article.
Its actually quite a relief to have a tank you can completely nuke. Fwe etc....
Are you going to add live rock? And Id say def want to meter that big bad light there.;)

Mainly right now for the fish that I have arriving next week. But I will be putting in frag racks and using the hob filter for freshwater with the filters to build up bacteria

Ok so since I have a divided leopard wrasse coming in, would it be ideal to put sand in the qt? Or just a bowl of sand? Will sand absorb any medications if I need to medicate? I plan on adding some pvc pipes for hiding as well

I look forward to the time when I have space for a QT! Looks like you're doing it right :)

Ive always been quite fond of my chonchs. weird huh.
Id rather have an abalone than a tang.
