Its all about how you present it. If all your corals are healthy and the polyps are extended, and the algae growth is nil, and you have some good taste in fish, etc.... everyone will love your tank. OR... you can buy a bunch of NAME BRAND corals at high prices, and impress everyone whether your tank looks like crap or not. Just like life. Quality before quantity. If you can master taking care of corals, your tank will look amazing. The trend toward designer corals will fizzle out in time. It's an artform, not a competition over whose d*** is bigger. Let's concentrate on quality, we'll all have the same corals soon enough. Sorry to vent, JMO.

Sorry to hear Hugo, That was a nice piece. Oh well, on to the next one; right ? :D

Thank You for the Veron reference, I miss the days of actual references instead of just some friuty names

Very nice Hugo!

Here is a pic of a coral not named but one really nice coral, I have some pics of it where it almost looks grafted on the base. What do you think?

Looks nice Bruce. Almost close to the Karls Candlelight. I think the Candlelight may have thinner branches though.

You dont see to many small colonies of the ORA german blue polyp. I'll post a picture tonight. The purple polyps are really crazy! I dont think ORA sells it anymore.

Named corals are overrated, if you're not caught up in it, don't get started ;) I saw a friends tank for the first time on Saturday and every piece I asked about were wild/aquacultured pieces...

I went over my list of corals from the CARC frag swap. I got about half and half named corals. The named ones cost a bit more, but not nearly what they would have had I picked them up at my LFS. To be honest, I prepurchased by name (so I could see some colonies online) and windowshopped the rest.

aww dont worry bamachamp we know it kicks butt..lol, just give it some shade and it will be right back to itself. Wish i had something to post but im just starting to aquire nicer things

here is my speck of grinch (its a bad pic also)

Many of the LEs that tyree gets are in fact limited or rare...I don't think the grinch is. It seems like it was not seen until recently because Aussie SPS weren't commonly imported before. However, it seems like this this red/green monti, which I think is either an undata or floweri, is fairly common, and coming in on aussie shipments. I got a frag a while back and it has grown out (first pic below) - I like the name "Red Hot Chundata" because while a made up name, it also reflects the scientific name (if, of course, its an undata). I picked up a second colony from LA (second pic) that I split up with a few friends, that I think is the same coral, and I've seen 3-4 of these on LA. While becoming more common, who cares?! I agree this coral puts the RHCP and Seasons greetings to shame. It has quickly become one of my favorite corals.
