New SPS today, forgot to dip

In my person experience this is too strong. Is there any evidence that 16oz to 5mL is less effective. A local SPS guy recommended that concentration to me after I had losses at the 8oz to 10 mL concentration.

In my testing, 5ml didn't kill AEFW. Just stunned them for about ten minutes. Once they were back in clean water, they started moving around again. I had video of it a couple years ago, but I don't think I ever posted it. I do believe I posted the experience on RC, though. Along with multiple doses. The 10ml was, back then, an amount that killed them. The only downside I saw was going past the 10 minutes (by a lot - say 5 or 10 minutes). This stressed the SPS out and lost color, but still did not cause death. I even dipped a Hawkins, and we all know how sensitive they can be.

Yeah I wasn't sure. Would love to see any research regarding the eggs. Wouldn't be too hard to test. I wonder if it could kill those as well?

I doubt it hits the eggs at all. I could never isolate any frags with eggs to test.

The RPS thread might indicate that it kills or inhibits hatching, but I don't know that it was confirmed.

I was just about to ask this. From what I heard, Bayer doesn't really kill AEFW. More like irritates them. That's why I haven't really dipped my pieces in Bayer vs other products since I don't see the point in using a dip that won't cover all the bases. So it's 10ml for how much volume in order to kill them?

i would not dip at this point, since they are already in your tank. should be fine.

Your opinion and mine vary greatly on this subject. How will they be fine if they have AEFW?

And 10ml per cup definitely kills them. They don't come back like zombies at that dose.

Birdsnest are fine. If you don't have any other acros, pull them all and dip them.

Fwiw, you have to assume everyone has the worst pest possible. I'd dip any coral from anyone. Doesn't matter if its my best friend, my mom, or the president of the United States. I'm dipping them.

Obama has a reef tank?....lol ;)
