I would wash it...soap and water...rinse well... then let it dry and rinse with RO water.

ok thanks...and i can get all i want all i got to do is let them know when they empty one to save it for me...i will try to get u one when thy empty another

No biggie it takes them about a week to empty one i will let ta know when i get another one

I would not use soap and water. I would rinse several time with tap water. then wash wil vinegar. then tap water again. then rinse with RO water before use. Soap tend to hold on to stuff especially since you cannot get to the inside very well for rinsing.

I always use soap because water wont clean out anything that is oil based. Not sure if vinegar will.

If it was something other than bleach, I might say soap and water too. Although, I still do not like the idea much. The vinegar was to neutralize the bleach. If all that has been in the barrel is bleach, rinsing with water is probaby good enough, but maybe scary. :nerd:

thought about cutting the top off of it and just putting a trash can lid over the top of it that way i can clean it better

You may have to cut some kind of hole just to get a pump in it.

Go to one of the box stores and get the "tray" for hot water heaters. They work well to cover 55gallon drums. They should work for this too. It might be less expensive unless you already have the trash can lid.

Can you save two of the barrels for the club? I think we will be supplying saltwater for the Swap next year. The barrels will work great for that.
I can store them in my garage unless someone esle would want to.

You can also look onto a bung faucet. They sell online cheap, and ag supply stores keep them around. Plastic 3/4 models are around $5 and 2 inchers are around $25. Keeps everything enclosed, and works real well.

Hey Eddie, Railcar's avatar is the critter I was telling you about at last month's meeting. I can't remember what it's called, but it has a super specific diet.

Nudibranch. This species only eats Portuguese man o war, and a few other extremely potent jellies

Do you have any idea what the actual name of it is?

I knew it ate something insane. I couldn't remember what it was though.

My avitar is Glaucus marginatus. It's cousin Glaucus atlanticus is more well known, both have the same diet
