No charging double LOL, I asked.....In fact I got shipping refunded as well cause of Fed-Ex screwing up and being 3hs late. The little one actually will be better then the big one I think.

I have it up to high right now for the good colors to show from the front of the tank....But that will have to wait till I change my rock work around.

Thanks I had to jump on it before it was bought.....Nice addition to the clam section. This one came in bigger then my Squammie....That one is eazy 6", this thing has to be 7-8" at the least. One thing I have noticed about these Maxi's is the mantle does not extend like those of the auacultured ones.....They really look differant then any Maxis I have seen or dealt with.....It kinda makes me wonder besides being wild why the big differance in shell thickness and over all size and shape of the shell is differant....I have had wild Maxis many years ago and even those didn't look anything like these.

Azurel,
Nice addition to your Clam Collection.

Little surprises like " Mini-Me "is always a nice bonus.

That is awesom! I may have to look closely at several of the vendors selling them and see if I can find one as well!

that's sweet, i think i saw that one on one of the threads maybe? Also, you were able to get a refund from fedex?? They mess up my deliveries religiously and i'd like to know what you had to do to get the refund.

It was posted in Unique Corals slaes forum......I didn't do anything UC refunded me the shipping and will take it up with Fed-Ex.

Thaks guys it was a good pick up.....I can honestly say I was a little surprised by the size and weight of it.....The package ame in at 16lbs and I would say the clam is about 3-5lbs it is really heavy and dense.....They are really differant from the typical Maxima, the shell is more like a football then the slender shell that we are used to seeing with aquacultured Maximas....

I would think it's related to their collection environment, namely flow. higher flow generally will create a thicker shell like that and encourage the mantle to not open quite as much (to prevent damage). The lighting is also likely pretty high; Mantle doesn't have to open as much to increase surface area (to photosynthesize) as it receives enough light on the exposed mantle.

that is really cool, I only have one little clam right now and the only thing he has on his shell is a little feather duster:(.

hey bud what website did you get that clam from? my bad i just saw you bought it from UC. that's where i bought my hybrid watermelon. Nice clam Bud
