New Tank Help!

Get rid of the ammonia first via a water change. You don't have to buy anything extra. The LFS will be glad to sell you anything. $$$$$

There is no point of waiting to do the water change if the fish are dead. Take care of what will kill livestock first.

If a room was being filled with toxic gas and you could not leave.

A. Open a window to dilute it and get some fresh air?
B. Hold a shirt over your mouth and hope for the best?

if you you do a water change during the cycle. You will need to keep doing water changes. The cycle will need to be completed one way or another.

I would take care of the source of the problem first. Airing out the room of gas and diluting it is pointless if the gas is still present for a longer period of time. Or let it spike and get completely removed.

it looks like the cycle is already almost done anyway. By doing a water change it will set it back and remove the good bacteria. But its really up to you. do a water change and see if the fish still swim sideways.

I would choose "B" if i know the gas is going to stop soon. The air it out and have coming longer. If the clownfish are still alive right now chances are they will survive thru the end cycle.

Bacteria grows on the substrate and rocks. Changing the water will not remove it or we would not be doing water changes on our tanks.
Water changes will however remove ammonia, nitrates, and phosphates in the water.

Yes. The reason why more water shouldnt be removed during the time of cycle. I had this happen before.

I did a water change during the cycle. It brought down my nitrate, Ammonia etc. Then it went back up again. stressing fish out again. Did another water change, went back down, then back up..then down. up, down. up. so forth...Fish died. The End. lol

After all that..i added bio spira. Let it spike real quick. Went back down to perfect parameters. bought all kinds of live corals. Fish swimming in the right direction. living happily ever after lol

Your welcome. As you can see. To each his own lol Hope it works out. Did you decide what you were gonna do?
