Wow! That's it. I'm tossing mine as soon as my new batch of chaeto & sea lettuce is ready. That's not just a sneaky thing to do, but down right unethical.
Did you read the article? The allegation, the way I (mis?) understand it, is that brand of salt mix already has high amounts of Al, and that the mp somehow reduced the amount. (Not that I think cermedia is necessarily right, just that I don’t think that throwing it out immediately is warranted)
Fwiw, a seperate thread seemed to indicate that one dude who was using rscp (only salt i care about

) and phosguard had even higher Al levels than in cermedia’s test, So I wouldn’t necesarily dismiss their assertion that some salts may contain high amounts of Al.

Here’s another discussion about the levels of different trace elements in different salts. I just skimmed this, and I’ve not had the opportunity to read it in depth. Sometimes it’s hard to read because the author is Polish. Nevertheless, I am very impressed with his ability to use English this well.

And as for me, I don’t have my nitrates, alk, and phosphates under control to my satisfaction yet. And, I want to do it slowly, without doing many things that will greatly alter the water chemistry There’s no way in heck that I’m worrying about aluminum right now.......
