Thank you, my first marine tank was my old 10 gal slate bottom stainless steel tank with stainless steel hood, very eye waking experience(shock, shock) lol. The hobby as I know it went from air driven outside filters & undergravel filters to fully automated reef aquariums. Robert Straughon & Rodney Jonlaas I considered the first true reefers, pick up a piece fully encrusted rock from the ocean, expose it to natural sunlight for lighting, there you go. When I was in the business, the wholesalers would get “new” fish or inverts in, they knew if it was different, I’d get it. I wouldn’t get them if I knew I couldn’t keep them, they should have stayed on the reef. Time & personal constraints keep me with a fw tank right now, but that’s ok, I’ll set another tank up again. The future of this hobby as far livestock goes is sustainability, 1000%. As for technology, it only gets better, but sometimes old school is good school50 years??? Many of us would love to hear what changes you have seen, things gone in the hobby that you miss and What you hope to see in the future. You've joined the right group !!
