Hey guys, my name is Luke. My son talked me into getting a 55 gallon with a hob bio wheel filter a few months ago. After cycling and adding some fish I realized I need to go bigger so I'm working on a Marineland265 with a 55-gallon sump.
I've built as far as the temp controller of the reefpi so far, thanks Ranjib! I build things for a living so I'm a 100% DIY type of guy. I'm looking forward to building my own led lights but I still need to get my head wrapped around that a little more.

@4dtough, welcome aboard mate! That's great that you are a DIY Guy b/c you're going to need those skills down the road. That's a big jump from a 55 gallon to a Marineland 265 gallon tank.

If I were you since you are new to this hobby I would go with a much smaller and a better-made tank if I were you... For starters maybe something like a like an SCA 66, or SCA 110 OR even an SCA 150 which is plenty big especially if you're just getting into the hobby!
If you go with a 265 you are going to need to buy everything in a 72'' in lengths, like your lighting will cost ya a lot on any 72'' size tank in length.
Do you realize what you're about to get your self into if you proceed with that large of a system? I have just seen a way to many people crash and burn and waste that much money on a big tank if it does not work out your SOL and you have a massive system in your house...Always got to be thinking ahead in this hobby. Also, NO i DONT WORK FOR SCA its just that SCA Makes awesome quality tanks at a very good price. Here is there website: http://www.scaquariums.com/category-s/100.htm

Here are some examples, would consider over the Marineland265

I myself run an SCA 150 Rimless tank! Just follow my build thread which you can find the link below.
All of the SCA PNP SYSTEM means its comes with everything except for lights!
