I also have a D70 w/ VR lens. So I borrowed Extension tubes from Jr. and they made a huge improvement w/ my pics.

The mouth is not in focus. It would probably look better if you used manual focus and made sure that the closest part is in focus. I can't see the EXIF data so I don't know your setting but you may want to adjust your aperture to get a better DOF (depth of field, so more of the coral is in focus). Some of the post processing programs strip off the EXIF data when you "Save for Web".

BTW, great looking coral!

I got Photoshop Elements 7. Does that strip of the EXIF info?

It probably does. Try the regular "Save" instead of "Save for Web". You can download Opanda Iexif for your browser that will allow you to right click on a pic on the web to see the EXIF data.

A couple of my best today

Those look much better. I really like the first one. Most of the coral is in focus. Only the foreground parts are a little blurry.

Now your getting the hang of it!

I just bought a D60 and now I'm convinced after reading this thread that I have the right camera. The 105 mil lens is saaaaaaaaaaaaaltyyyyyy!!! Over $850. I'll have to sell alot more coral to buy that bad boy! But rest asured, I will be buying it sooner or later. The macro lenses make all the difference.

I think that lens was about $775 when I bought it about 6 months ago. I don't know why it went up. But I will say, after I have seen what it will do, I wouild still buy it. This is not even a real good image and I still like it!

Those pics are worth the money to invest in good equipment. No doubt about that!

I like Pelican cases, but they're the only one I've used. Nicely weatherproofed for maybe $20 more than what you're looking at in that auction. Plus, the plastic on them is super tough. You could drive a car over one without damaging anything. It feels like the material that is used for composite outdoor decks.

Thanks, I will look them up.

My best shot of the day

So I have had nothing but problems with the 18-55mm Lens that came with this camera. I have sent it back twice in 3 months because of the auto focus not working correctly. Yesterday I picked it up again from Best Buy after it got Fixed. Went home and started taking some pictures. The pictures were horrible. The auto focus was still not fixed.... I went straight back to best buy and showed them the difference between what my pictures used to look like and what they look like now. I demanded a new lens. I did not want to send it in again because they are not fixing it.

To make a long story short, I came home with a new D5000x with a 18-55mm Lens. All I had to do was pay the difference and they also transferred my 4 year plan I purchased with the D60 to the D5000x.
