New wild Australian Acro colonies

I've always had better luck with wild aussie colonies/frags than wild indos. IME (and it could just be a coincidence), they seem to either keep/improve their colors. I'm growing out a wild blue tenuis that's this bright smurf blue with green polyps right now. I'm hoping for another color to appear, but even if it stays as is, it'll be a looker when it gets bigger.

Might have to look that up in the future if theese do well, but seeing them with my eyes and not from a photo on the internet I know exactly what I’m getting. Not to mention I don’t have to deal with shipping and I have 2 great lfs’s 2 miles from my house which would order anything I’m looking for. I’ve bought Acro frags a couple times from live sales on here from big vendors and well let’s just say I wasn’t really excited once I got the actual pieces, add to that here in SoCal with so many stores the price of Acro frags are much less than online. I will say if I did purchase online Acro frags again they would be from Battlecorals, even though I haven’t bought from him before his reputation and true to life pics on his website.

So those of you guys that bring in bigger Aussie colonies(wholesale), How long do you wait to frag some of them up? Is it best to frag if they look kinda bad to begin with or should you wait it out? Anything else that I should be aware of or do when I receive a shipment?

Wait if they look bad, especially the larger the colony the harder the stress they go trough when shiped.

I am a big fan of the wild Aussie Corals, and I am very fortunate that my LFS brings them in quite often. I luckily (or Unlucky) get a phone call as he is headed back from the airport.

I have found the Aussie Corals to hardy for the most part, but unfortunately there will be losses with wild colonies for what ever reasons and when one starts to RTN it seems to happen at the speed of light.

Mine were a day and 6 hours late because of flight delays. They were shipped even though I noted not to if there were delays happening. I was surprised that they were not dead, paled badly but the tips still had polyps. I hope they make it, I am not a fan of trying to baby stressed out wild corals. Hopefully they don't peel.

I bought this tennis ball sized A. digitifera intact colony on Sep 23rd. It had been at the LFS for about ten days and was almost colorless - almost but not quite.....

It was in the $15-00 section, after that section it's not a long journey into one of the shop calcium reactors. Being an eco warrior type i decided to save the poor thing. First i made sure it was worth saving..........

" It was pinky orange with yellow corallite lips, really pretty - for a day "

You can see how pale it was with the forest fire and SSC behind it.

This is the same acro today next to a bright green stylo that Dom ( Wrangy ) gave me years ago. The stylo is about 1/8 of an inch away from my acro's base so let's hope for Dom's sake that the stylo doesn't sting my acro because anything the stylo does will be done to Dom next time he comes over...........

Btw, i make my videos to look realistic on my 17" monitor but i just looked at one on my phone for the first time and it's way over saturated when you shrink it down sorry. Anyway, it was in 350 PAR when the pic was taken but it's in 450 now as i moved it a couple of weeks after i bought it when i realised it needed more light.

The two pieces I got look good this mourning, for what they have been through. Polyps are out and no peeling yet. I have them in the lower flow and light area of the tank for now. I will probably move them to the center once they look like they are recovering.

So after a couple weeks they seem to be doing just fine, the multi colored one seems to have colored up and grown.
