its a new tank it'll happen, but diatoms are mostly a p04 (phosphates) thing (low nutrients=potential diatoms) you can combat that with phytoplankton making the tank more (nutrient rich) this is why alot of people who run hardcore sps tanks with low low levels of p04 run uv sterilizers to stop the diatoms b.c they will prevent the sps from "browning" however i wouldnt worry too much about it now thats more for future reference and general understanding Happy reefing friend
