I am new both to the forum and to the reef thing. I've crawled many forums for the last month and finally decided to register here. Seems like the friendliest one

A bought my aquarium only a couple of weeks ago. So far I love how it looks, but I don't really know much on what is the right way to look after it.

I would really appreciate your advise on the most basic things and where to start.

10-15% water changes weekly is a good place to start if you're not already doing so

Hi and welcome! What are your test results and what equipment are you running? There's plenty of us who'll help you out...

Fyi.. that yellow tang isn't really appropriate for a nano... if you can try to trade him in for something more suitable

Definitely try to trade the yellow tang in for maybe a yellow wrasse, if you like the color, unfortunately the tang will not be happy and healthy long term in a nano tank, plus he will make lots of waste that will make it harder to maintain the water quality you want. Most LFS's will do some kind of trade for you, give the tang a bigger home and you a happy and healthy fish.

14 gallon.
I actually bought it from a friend of mine, so I didn't really have much choice

And I will find someone to trade the tang with. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Why is it not appropriate to have it? Is the tank too small?
Just googled yellow wrasse - they are pretty!

Yup... just too small. Tangs generally cruise the reef picking off algae in the wild and as such cover vast distances. For a nano you want fish that have a naturally small range (common clowns as an example). Tangs and nanos just don't go. Assuming all goes well with this then upgrade to a 250g and get a decent tang collection... if they float your boat
