My tank is going on 3 months now. I picked up a total of 6 Scarlet Crabs for the Green Hair Algae. They are doing great and always eating.

is this red part of my rock? Lol I don't remember it being so red it's on other pieces of rock too
2 is this aiptasias? I have a few others that don't look like this I've tried aptasia x but I don't think I'm quick enough or patient enough and just thought I'd grab a peppermint shrimp to eat them up
3 is this something?

1. Almost looks like some type of sponge. 2.Hard to tell but it looks like a feather duster almost. 3. Not sure could be a mushroom coral. Or just some Caroline algea. Maybe try to post a better picture. Is it fluorescent in with blue lights?More questionsis this red part of my rock? Also for 1. If it starts to grow rapidly and cover the rocks. It more than likely cyano and can easily be treated. (Chemi clean) Also if this is the case, stop gohst feeding.
I always start with part of a the cleaner crew for my first additions to the tank. Very hardy and not very costly. Hope that helps !

If the red doesn't blow off it probably corraline. Looks like feather dusters and maybe a cucumber. Some cukes don't move. Btw
I would def get the cuc in there and probably use a few more than most normally use in a new tank as your tank is ahead of schedule.
If you are at the 30 day mark or more I'd say your fine to add fish and easy coral.
Personally I would do a manual scrub and big water change and clean the filters and Chem filters. Then get snails wait a week and pick out your first fish.
As always , add live stock slowly.
And congrats. As ugly as it may seem. Your tank looks great.

Thank you thank you! I am on week 2. I haven't noticed a spike in the ammonia after 2 days of ghost feeding but maybe because I added bio-spira? So I guess I'll stop trying to kill the feather duster in question with apraxia x. It was too fast and in a weird spot anyway.
I would hold off in the bottled bacteria. Just to see if you do ever get any ammonia.
But if the Rock is live , so you probably won't see any ammonia as it's already processing it.

At the fish store now. Dude says no snails they are a slime ball waiting to happen when they die... thoughts?

Snails are my favorite CUC and imo the most efficient removers of algae and detritus. Get Nessarius snails and even if a snail dies it will get eaten and not be a problem.
I've never heard of a LFS not have snails as part of a CUC package... that's very odd.

He said I've been doing this 40 years I just don't think they do as good of a job and they leave trails on the glass. So I got some hermits some emeralds and some peppermint shrimp. I'll see what they can do

Yes! I read this and had my list in my head of what I needed and then this guy made me question it. I'll order the rest of what I wanted online. Then I won't have anyone making me second guess my research
