Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am new here figured i would introduce myself I am new to the saltwater life, I am from Florida so it is easy to get to the ocean but I'm on a temporary move for college and had to bring the ocean with me. I have experience with fresh water tanks, I have done research and decided to take on the hard task of a small nano coral aquarium. So my current set up is a 26 gallon freshwater and a 6.5 gallon nano cube that is still cycling before I can add anything. I have learned a fair amount here so far and hope to continue. Any questions just ask!!!!

Welcome to R2R and the salty side. Research is the key along with patience. Start a build thread in the members section and share some pictures.

Will do I'm at work I will post some later. I know patience is the key have been waiting for my nano to cycle 2 weeks now and finally started to show ammonia yesterday

Welcome. Way to jump in with such a challenging tank. Look forward to hear your progress. Research and patience is never underestimated in this hobby. With such a small tank, you can have some cool little corals and other inverts. I would stay away from any fish though. I would love to hear more about the set up. Lighting maintenance, etc. Is it a jbj nano cube?

It's a deep blue rimless, I planned on trying for one mandarin , my lfs said it would be ok ONLY if it's one of the rare ones that will eat hand feed food because of how little Copepods a 6.5gallon will hold. If I get lucky and find one I will add one and that's it along with inverts and corals

That is way too small for a mandarin. No matter what the lfs guy says. Very few ever eat frozen or fresh or any of the sort. Must be trained and the 6g could not support the amount of food needed.

However, if you like the dragonet look, a ruby red dragonet would be fine in a 6g and they actually eat prepared food very well. I have 4 in different tanks (one being a 6g) and they are super cool. Much smaller than a mandarin and much more appropriate. Very pretty red fish.

I have seen those and they were an option I ended up deciding mandarin but I guess I will revert back to the ruby red dragonet thanks for the input once I get home I will do a build thread and once college is done here and I'm back to my house in Florida I was considering also a fusion lagoon 25

Welcome, you'll love it here. We love pics, so post those!

Also, FWIW, I have a 6 gallon and my LFS also said one mandarin would be a good choice, too.
