Hey reefkeeper,

I was looking to add further media to the system and was going to get some siporax to supplement my live rock, has been hard to find where I am though.

I will take a look at the bio fill in the meantime though.

Get the 25mm noodles... the large pond type if you get siporax.

I have the opposite problem, I have to dose nitrate from time to time.... [emoji23]

To clarify when I say larger water changes I'm still doing 20% but I would do two in one day about 10 hours apart and I always made sure my parameters matched ie Alk/cal/mag

The SPS were browning before these changes and were believed to be due to the higher nitrates
Exactly the SPS will brown out due to NO3 but if you continuously change the NO3 level by water changes and it comes back again then thats bad too.

I will see if I can find that size. Where is the best spot in the sump for them?

I have my skimmer on a stand and have room underneath the stand that I could lay some.

Also when you are dosing NP pro and pro bio S. Where are you dosing and are you turning he skimmer off at all?

Looks like you have the crew here:eek: @austinl :D. I agree with @120reefkeeper, I was running high nitrates until I started running life bio fail and I toss in a little Zeovit in the bio media mix. I would also suggest hiring more clean up crew, to up around 75+ with a couple Mexican turbos. That is how I rid myself of the under a year nuisance algae.

it's why I am here.

I read both of the masters threads great stuff in there. I may pick up a third kit and will try a salifert as well and see what happens.
Sometimes if you get your alk to around 8 to 8.5 it can help too.
But either way it's going to take some time to get your SPS to color back up.

Good Luck!!!!!

Freddie

Yes I have all that media in my sump.

I dose my Pro bio s/ np Pro directly into the tank.

Aquaforest recommends dry skimming and this is what I do. This way you don't skim out the bacteria so fast. [emoji6]

Ok so I got a Hanna ULR today to recheck my PO4 and it reads at 11ppb

So if I'm correct that would be 0.01 right? Still too low?
@austinl
I use the ulr checker too and used to use the math formula. Then I found this spread sheet and it matches the math formula to tee.

So if your checker read 11ppb then your at .o34ppm. :)

Hope this chart helps you out.

Thanks I will print that off and put it near my stats board.

Here's the math formula.
You take the ulr's reading and x's it by 3.06 and then you / by 1000
So you reading was
"11"-ppb
11 x 3.06 = 33.66 / by 1000 = .03366-ppm
and the chart just rounds up to .034-ppm

Yep same formula I use [emoji6]

So i managed to find some Siporax and it should arrive within a few days. In the mean time I will adjust by dosing of NP Pro and Pro Bio S to 4 drops.

Here are some photos from tonight...pardon my camera work still have much to learn about editing, photos were after feeding so not crystal clear water.

Siporax arrived!!!!

I have added in 4 Litres of Siporax to my sump and have upped my dose of Pro Bio S and NP Pro to 4 drops. Im hoping the Siporax works so I don't have to do the daily Dosing.

Fingers crossed
