I would not stop water changes they are the best way to keep your tank healthy and balanced... and instead of dosing vodka which is to feed bacteria why not just add bacteria straight. Much less problematic. It is very easy to mess up. I'd go with Dr Tim's waste away. Also maybe until they clear up do larger water changes more often like once a week.

I would like to know why NO one has bothered to ask the OP, what his nitrate numbers are reading? Or if he's actually having issues due to his having nitrates?
Could be the numbers aren't so high that would require him to dose anything! That a few extra water changes could fix the issues? When was the last time he did a water change? Why suggest he start dosing something without helping him find the cause?
So I'll ask! What are your actual nitrate readings?
