10 is amazing! Personally all tanks are different, my tank sits from 15-20 nitraite and phos of 0.06-.10 and my corals\BTA are thirving.

0 Nitrate results in dino, cyno outbreaks and starvation for corals.

Well now you got my Red Flag waving. Based upon the current flow of this thread, you may be new to saltwater and are possibly adding fish too fast? How big is the tank, how long has it been set up, and why wouldn't the engulphing predator eat the smaller fish that swim by? It's ok to add the lionfish but the chromis, blenny, goby, and skunk clown may become a quick lunch for a hungry lionfish. I don't konw it that situation would make the fish nervous but it could?

i have had saltwater tank for over a year im just curious about the lionfish hear diffrent thoughts on this tank is a 75 gallon well established

@lion king may have a better idea for this situation? I have not kept an lionfish in many years as i didn't want to feed them (cheap) goldfish when their livers really want saltwater fishes for dinner. :) They are interesting specimens and I hope you get one if you like one! They do place a larger filtering challenge to accomodate their feeding habits but I always enjoyed watching them eat and hover around the tank looking for lunch opportunities. They are beautiful, imo.

Chromis or any small fish would be on the menu, they do take some special care if you are interested you can click my name and "find all threads". They are not the easiest species to have long term success

ok just as i thought they are cool fish but im going to pass on that one thank you for your help happy holidays

You would be choosing between chromis/goby and the lion. A 75 would be great for a dwarf lion and snowflake eel. Normal 'swimming around' reef type fish would need to be bigger. A dwarf angel and /or a Ctenochaetus genus tang would work.

ok well decided not to go with lionfish for now have alot of live rock in the tank i may got with a pufferfish may get a bubble tip anemone never had one would like to try it

Meanwhile in the Caribbean my ex and her friends are catching and killing Lionfish as an invasive species

@PeterEde I saw one or two at Grand Cayman, of course I had no fishing gear but I did try and drop a large boulder on one but I wasn't successful with my limited tools. There were a lot fewer fish in the area after I started finding Lionfish swimming around. Next time I'll bring a HA sling for more reliable results.

Humans are the invasive species; it's the humans that have killed off or collected the lion's natural predators that would have kept their population in check.
