Nitrates!!!!!

Probably, but if your bacteria can handle the spike it may show up as nitrate.

Carbon dosing. Vodka or vinegar. Gotta dose a lot and have some po4.

@oscargrumete61 u are completely correct the fact that I haven’t been dosing bacteria in every water change and feeding every other day I have been depleting my good bacteria and raising my nitrates with this being the case I am going to get some tomarrow happy thnxgiving everyone and happy reefing

I've never dosed bacteria after a water change. It's mostly on your rocks and substrate, not the water column.

It won't hurt, but all in all the bacteria has to catch up to the bioload and nutrient export needs to be able to handle the bioload. I wouldn't carbon dose without a skimmer. Regular water changes will help too. Microbelift, Dr. Tim's are good sources to look at for bottled bacteria. It won't be a cure all as things need to get balanced which will take time.

Didn’t know their was a thing as “Deadly Nitrates” my test both APO and NYOS turns the deepest color on the spectrum within seconds so easily 160ppm+ as well as 3.0ppm Phosphate. L haven’t seen coral so colorful ever. Anywhere from GSP to Acans to Duncan’s,Hammers and now 2 Rainbow RBTA. All are happy and healthy!

@Zack Klabunde beautiful nems btw but my question is how do you get away with it are you running a skimmer and all the bells and whistles please elaborate on how and why I’m in my first year of reefing and would really enjoy picking your brain

I didn't see it mentioned but are you running a protein skimmer? I found on my tank that the nitrates dropped from 25ppm to .2 within a week of adding the skimmer.

l am running a very simple tank. It’s a 54 corner with a 10g sump. l have a protein skimmer in chamber one(Bubble Magus Nac 3.5), a carbon filter pad in between the baffles before it runs into a refugium. Then from their it goes into the return pump and back to the tank. What l have found is no matter what you Levels are, make sure they are all in balance. l have not done a WC in a little over 9 months now and nobody is complaining. As long as you have stability l think you can be successful.

that’s amazing

What size sump are you running or is it an all in one? Not doing water changes are ok if you have other means of nutrient export like a skimmer and refugium. If your running neither I'd recommend staying with water changes. To much of a change all at once can result in catastrophe.
