No polyp extension: a thread

It seems like it is just the acros from what you are saying. I would wait to see if getting rid of the clown goby helps, if not I would bet on come sort of parasite like I said before with red bugs being the most likely.

Is it possible for my two year old acros that have grown in size to be fine if there were red bugs? For red bugs only affect polyps?

thanks man, I’m pulling my hair out over this

yes, acro colonies can still grow with red bugs they just dont have much, if any, polyp extension. I also feel that it leaves them more vulnerable if anything stresses them and makes them grow slower as well.

I dip everything and had a few out recently to look at and didn’t see the bugs. I’ll keep looking.

Have noticed no change. The one acro has PE peek out at night. It’s just one and they don’t come out that far.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing if it’s growing and coloring up. I have a asd rainbow Millie that won’t extend its polyps but my other sps Does all day.. I’ve read it a million times that pe does not mean it’s happy or healthy lol.. my water is so dirty I’m almost thinking it doesn’t need to feed so it doesn’t extend to look for food haha.. this thing was brown when I got it, know it’s bright green and orange and just the tips of the polyps peek out mint green..

How long have these been in your tank? They might be acclimating still..

Yes. Most of them I grabbed recently. Probably last month? Same things happened with the two acros I have had for years. They browned out. I thought they were dead, then they came back.
Some of these have their color still and aren’t brown just don’t look happy.

I know this is a super old thread but any luck on this? I’m having similar issue where my sps is encrusting but has no PE at all. All growing well, Tank is 4.5 years old, can’t seem to see any red bugs or any pests to the eye at least. No livestock bothering it

I can’t say this will cure it but helped me get much better pe! I always had pe but it was small not like yours with hollow holes.. I started dosing 2 drops a day of iodine and I got crazy pe!

Well I woke up to my pink acro completely destroyed. The pink acro yesterday looked like this
