Hi all
I have a big time issue with my tank nitrate
It's always high everything else is perfect
Except my nitrate it's always high
I have a ceramic ring live rock and refugium for filtration
I have used biopellet reactor and no3po4
I change water
I feed my fish once a day just enough
Nothing happened
All the brown Algae have gone from my display tank
But the dang nitrate still there
I'm about to gave up
I do not need solution I need a reason why my nitrate are so high
I'm really frustrated now thinking about crashing my tank unless you have something that would gave me hope

You should post more details.
How old is the tank, rock
What is the reading from all your parameters?
What test kit are you using?
Have you tried a differnt test kit?

No such thing as perfect. What are your other parameters?

I am sorry I forgot to mention I have five fish two clowns one blueberry goby fish yellow watchman Goby one juvenile yellow tang a boxing shrimp and 2 anemone

Your spell checker is going off "scammer"
You removed your bio balls, have you reintroduced some bacteria to reseed the tank?
It's wierd your nitrates are that high.
Have you also thought about carbon dosing with Vodka? Good bacteria would then eat the no3 and no4.

:D:D:D yup it does
Yes sir I add some bacteria when I remove the bioball
I thought no3po4 it's a lot better than vodka

Vodka or other carbons feed the good bacteria. Did you turn your skimmer off when you added bacteria? Try seeding it again.

Phosphate is 10ppm? What are you feeding? And what does it mean "I feed my fish once a day just enough". How much of what? Your numbers suggest that the export methods are inefficient or your import is way too much. As you mentioned, before any solutions are suggested the root of the problem needs to be diagnosed.

Also, what skimmer do you have? How much rock and how much of those ceramic rings? Any other filtration media/export methods (fuge, biopellets etc)?

Forgot to ask, is this a fish only or do you have corals? Any specific reason you want to bring down nitrates? Or are they just too high?

I'm using biopellet and no3po4x shoulder more than enough
What do you suggest for a bacteria ?

Yes sir last time I checked it was 10 PPM and it confused me too
I meant I feed them enough to do not have any left over in one minute
I feed them thera+a omega one marine flakes dry Algae sheet soaked in garlic guard
I have about 4 pound of lava rock I don't say remember how many ceramic rings I have
Skimmer ismacro awn-20
Also I have refugium

did you mean 40pounds of rock? Are you using a sand bed how deep? Ill agree with what was stated above your nutrient export is flawed somewhere. Does the skimmer work well thick black junk or mostly clear? Also just one other question are the high nitrates causing problems in the tank? I know you said the brown algae was mostly gone, but IMO if it doesnt seem to be causing any real issues let it ride.
