Not Happy With Live Aquaria

They drop ship from wholesalers in Los Angeles, and from ORA in Florida. If you want fish from Wisconsin, those are their Diver’s Den fish which are pre-conditioned and screened for disease. You’d still be supporting a Wisconsin company, so I don’t really get your beef here.

Ah okay thanks. Is not necessarily beef just mistrust/confusion about what type of tank that fish would come from and who is running these facilities but that clears it up more.

Not happy because of poor service or not happy because they didn't let you do what you want?

Its not their place to let you stroll on into a different facility and its definitely not CS's fault for company policy.

It’s a business policy. I also do gardening and live an hour from a huge distribution center selling bulbs and roots. Same thing, they don’t have a pick up window. It also protects their guarantee. If the fedex guy has an accident and you get a DOA it’s between them. If you get delayed after picking it up it should be on you...unfortunately there are folks in this world that will say it is LA fault and try to collect on the guarentee.

I THINK - I'm reading that you were mad at Live Aquaria - because you couldn't pick up fish at the ORA facility? And then threaten them with 'posting it all the forums' how 'bad' their customer service was? I hope I got it - if so - It would be nice for you to make an apology publicly - because - it seems to me your complaint is with ORA not Live Aquaria. Second - MOST wholesalers do not allow pick up at their location - so I dont even think you have a complaint with ORA.

In our ridiculously litigious society, you can't simply let the public walk off the street into your potentially dangerous warehouse/aquaculture facility. The list of reasons why you can't do this is pretty long, including local codes, permitting issues, occupancy, insurance and more. They also likely don't have dedicated staff to meet with and serve public retail customers, so they would have had to disrupt business to receive and serve you.

Live Aquaria would have been stupid to let you do this.

I'm thinking the OP gets the point by now. /thread

while you're at it you can throw in covid rules as another reason not to let you into a wholesaler

I am scratching my head until now! Anyway, you can always contact ORA and asked which LFS they have business with within your area then order from them and pick up. Jordan, the director of sales at ORA is pleasant to deal with, he helped me a lot of time.

And Think. . . COVID
I dont think anyone wants outside persons at their facilities at this time.

I would find a local fish store you like and have them order through ora.
Ditto here ! I only buy fish from my LFS ! But buying ORA clownfish is an unnecessary expense; you can do fine with clowns from your LFS for half the price. Unlike the ORA Mandarins (which are conditioned to eat frozen food) , there is really no advantage in selecting ORA clownfish.

As a former CSR, this is awful. You could've politely asked for a supervisor to try to make your case (though, I think you'd still be SOL). Shame on you, OP. They were just doing their job to the best of their abilities.

Yup. Here's ORA's statement on ordering fish from their FAQs:

Ask your regular pet store to order what you want. If they do not have an account with us we can set one up with them. You can also call us at 772-468-7008 and we will be happy to help you find a store in your area that carries our fish.

I couldn't find the section covering their policy on harassing low level CSR reps for things out of their control though.

Nope let's keep beating in how petty and ridiculous this is lol.
Not really the R2R style or how we want to represent this community, I think.

@Sushi Farmer you are in the wrong here. And quite self entitled if you think a company is going to change or ignore policy because it’s what you want. It seems you don’t have any understanding of livestock distribution, yet you flamed a customer service rep and a company as if you are the expert. Shame on you.

I literally just posted an unrelated disappointment review of my Divers Den order. but in this case I have to neutral and support most others POV that LiveAquaria isn't at fault here. ORA is wholesale and breeder thus it's not exactly the right protocol to expose customers to the breeder/wholesaler and vise versa. Fortunately for you, being in FL I am sure you have an abundance of local retailers who will be happy to supply you ORA livestock for same day pick up.
