I've had sps in this tank over a month now and for the first month color and growth fine, slowly incrusting and color didnt change. Last week I started noticing that the corals were starting to lose color or pale. Until now I only dosed cal. Alk. And acro power. I do a wc every week. My parameters are/have been right on the money except no3/4 were 0. I did see info on dosing nitrate when I was researching for this tank but was hoping I didn't have to. So I read a couple treads on here, got myself some spectracide stump remover and started dosing 4 days ago. The difference is amazing already. Been testing no3 like crazy and been steady at 2ppm( I've had to dose twice in four days). First pic is a week ago and the second is now. Hopfully I can keep a good balance in this small tank and keep my sps happy. Big thanks to the members of R2R, you have helped me so much whether you know it or not.

I don't get the joke but thanks for making me feel like crap. Hope your tanks crash.

Calm down there, Rambo. A little reading will go a long way.

Maricultured acropora are notably difficult to color up and hold color. They'll often go brown and die for no apparent reason. @Sabellafella was, if anything, complimenting your success with Spectracide and @Naiad was noting that you're adding food so there's no joke there either.

That's totally uncalled for and shows the true colors of who you are. I've met so many wonderful people through the hobby. I have been amazed by reefers and the love for the hobby and each others situations in and outside of the hobby. He only gave a compliment and the response is to wish that upon another reefer is just wrong. This is a family friendly place and we take pride in that. We take pride in being helpful when possible and looking for support when troubles arrive. We don't disrespect and wish bad upon one another. I feel bad for you that you're so angry to lash out like that I hope you can relax and realise how offensive that was to other members and visitors. It's not the example we like to have given to guest of the site.

I thought I was being bashed and made fun of by others that have more knowledge and I have seen it on here before. I misread the situation and do apologize to all.

Kudos to you for apologizing! :)

Anyway, back to the topic: that's an awesome acro! Any more before and after SPS?!

Is your phosphate still zero?

I'm running a sumpless and skimmerless 20G w/ 10ppm nitrate and 0.10 phosphate and my acros are rockin! :D

Yes phosphates still 0 might be higher ran of of salifer using old api for phos. for now. Trying to feed more but there's just two little fish in there, and 6 snails. Need to take pics in the dark with no light to help colors so you can really see but here's the tank. Yesterday.

remember. you need po4 too.

if you see nitrate is at 5ppm and corals are paling again... you will need a very small bump in po4.
(redfield)

phosphate also inhibits calcification. so you gotta be careful

i suggest rs pro or hanna po4 kit
