I’d agree with knowing the following

How often and what percentage water is changed?
What is the turnover rate in the tank (flow) not including the return pump?
What are the PAR levels throughout the tank?
Are you dosing anything besides Cal & Alk?

They do get exposed during water changes. And 1 mp10 i think anything after would be over kill

I have colonies out of the water for 10-15m during water changes each week with no Ill effects. Unless they’re super sensitive acros, that shouldn’t be an issue.

1.Weekly to bi weekly depending on nitrates if weekly 37.5%
Bi weekly 50%
2. Not sure
3. Top where acros are 250-325
4. Mag here and there

IMO, acros prefer around 100x turnover. I run higher, but that’s sort of the ballpark number. Are your lights on when they are exposed during the water changes. If so, you might want to turn off your lights. PAR is dramatically higher above water than below. I do my water changes in the morning before my lights turn on.

Small mixed reef didn't wanna run 100% mp10 it's not huge. It's on the right side and you can see it bouncing off the glass and pushing torches opposite side.

Those are huge water changes! Why so much? 2 is good to know. It’s fairly easy to determine if you know your pumps max output, then reduce depending on the percentage you are running it at. #3, I would consider 250 to be a minimum PAR for acros. In my tank I run between 250 (bottom) to 550 (top). I find most acros like around 350-450. 4., good to hear. People seem to like to put a bunch of additives in their tank. Since you don’t, there is nothing to consider reducing.

My tank gets dirty quickly tanks been running a year this way. I can't do any lower unless i do smaller water changes every other day which i can't do. I try and keep my nitrates from 15-25 ppm. Everything in the tank is ok except a few acros. Bird's-nest,tort, strawberry shortcake all doing ok under lower than 300 par. I don't dose anything else because I'm trying to find the problem of SPS dying. Then I'll just be lost. One thing at a time for me.

That’s really the trick with trying to do a mixed tank, making everything happy. It’s a fine line and I’ll be frank. Not everything will be happy. But with patience and trial and error, you’ll find what will work. You should be able to find some acros which will do well with that PAR and flow. But not all will.

Yes I've heard they can go that long but established colonies versus fragile frags might be different?
