Nutrient export

I run a skimmer and have a fuge with chateo growing like crazy. i remove 3/4 every month to keep the nutrients lower.

This is what I run in my HOB filter in my 10 gallon nano along with a weekly 10-20% WC

What do you guys all use to control your tank nutrients in a nano I do have a sump but I’m thinking of trying bio pellets does anyone use that in a nano?
So your main issue is the algae! I've always had algae in everyone of my tanks at some point or other, just not to the point it causes problems. Unfortunately algae is just another marine life form and trying to keep it out of a system which we create that is the perfect living environment for algae, is not easy. That said I know folks that have never seen any algae in their systems.

I myself use the first chamber of my nano AIO asa fuge for cheato, granted the tank was only running for about 8 months but was stated fully cycled and fully stocked. I swore by weekly 5g water changes and never had any algae. The cheato would need harvesting every 2 weeks to admit 50%.

As the time came to closing done the tank I stopped doing water changes, at this point algae did start to show, and left untreated it soon took over the tank (about 2 months)

Cutting back lighting had never done much in my experience for algae as the nutrients are still there.

I guess the point I make is a fuge with good old weekly water changes its probably the best option for you.

This is my nano with the weekly water changes. Twice a day feeding of 4 fish. The skimmer isms using but was in the pic.
