Anybody have any reviews on the Nyos Skimmers, specifically the 120? Found out my Omega 150 won't fit my sump, so looking for another quality skimmer to replace it. Seen some good reviews on the Nyos 160, just not much out there on the 120. It will be going on a 57g rimless SPS tank with a TWV of around 80g (Tank, Sump, Remote Fuge). I was getting ready to bite the bullet on a BK Mini 160, but that just seems like complete overkill on this tank. I love ecotech and their customer service, that is why I am mainly looking at the Nyos line of skimmers.

Look at the ATB Nano One it is only 15" tall and uses a DCT controllable pump. Rated for 150gal medium load.

I did look into the ATB nano, but it has too large of a footprint for my elite aquatics RS-24 sump.

I'm running the nyos 120 on a ~40 gallon and a ~70 gallon, it's an amazing skimmer. It's very quite and really easy to adjust much better than the vertex 130 I had previously.

The one thing that could use some work is the collection cup, it's not the easiest to get off and doesn't hold very much.

Just got one for my new build. The thing is sweet. Had it running on my 65 gallon just to try it out. You'll love it.

One thing about a skimmer, just focus on the pump and how reliable it is. To me, please nobody get offended as its my opinion, I think they are just glorified skimmers. Sure, they looks REALLY sweet and all - but in a few months it should and will look like a nasty skimmer as its intended to pull poop and waste from our water.

So I've had a few people say "well it has titanium screws!" Ok that is great if you are built a rocket ship, as for now, my plastic screws work just fine.

Overall, all skimmers have the same body style. I focus on the pumps and how good they work and how long they will last. I personally like the pop on/pop off collection cup and a drain plug.

Well, spoke with a vendor this morning. We discussed a few different skimmers including the Nyos Skimmers, BK Mini 160, and the new RLSS DB6-i. After our conversation, I decided that I will definitely be steering clear of any RE/BK products for a while. He said that they have sold a lot of Nyos skimmers, but didn't really have much more to offer than that on Nyos. He really pushed the RLSS skimmers, specifically the new DB-i series with the inverted pump. I don't know, it is always frustrating when you are getting ready to throw some money down and there is always a bunch of unknowns. Before I pull the trigger, I am going to give ecotech a call to see what they have to say.

I have the Nyos 120 running on a 100gl this thing is awesome i have to run it 12hrs on 12hrs off trying to get my phos and nitrates above 0

I heard good things about the rlss skimmers and aquamaxx skimmers aren't bad. Like science said, the pump is the most important part of a skimmer. I've also been told that recirculating skimmers are much more effective on smaller systems like yours. Good luck, btw I run an omega 150 and it's decent.
