Ocean Revive or viparspectra lights

Looking at ocean revive lights and viparspectra. Below is ocean revive which I'm leaning towards. Will post in lighting as well. I'm not sure if these can be daisy chained or not. Of course, I'd rather get the lights I put my raffle tickets towards!! but in case I don't win... Found a video of a tank canopy to try to get my hubby to make to install these in.

Current lights are marine orbit pros. I want to be able to keep sps, softies, and LPS. Doing a tank reboot and redo.

Can the revives be daisy chained? What are your thoughts.

Why is the light in the picture upside down?? Anyways, I'm not familiar with the ocean revives but can vouch for the vipraspects being good cheaper lights!

I think they are just showing the lights. You can use the stand or hang as normal. Thanks for the feedback

Question: do OR lights daisy chain? If you have 3 lights, do you have to use 3 remotes?

If I remember correctly, you can use one remote, but have to program each one separately.

I was very impressed with the viper spectra’s. I had 2 over my 90 mixed tank and I could grow about anything .
Cannot go wrong for the price point and warranty .

I've just replaced my viper spectras but they seemed like reasonable lights to me. I mounted them too low though at only 9 inches and was running the blue channel at 30% and the white at 1% just to keep the par from going through the roof at that height directly under them. Definitely mount them high - BRS recently said 14 inches minimum I think and I definitely agree but higher is better. Their spectrum looks pretty impressive compared to other high end lights but they are super powerful because of those lenses. I'm a complete novice when it comes to coral so take this with an extreme pinch of salt but I've certainly burnt a few corals with these so be careful.

one thing I noticed between the 2 brands is the placement of the controls. The vipers are on the front. The oceans are on the end which might make using them, esp. if mounted in a canopy a bit hard. and to put them going across end wise, instead of horizonal, might mean needing a lot more as the width of each would be narrower. Right?

I mounted my Viper Spectras end on which meant for me the controls didn't face the front and the remote isn't that great. The remote on the Ocean lights looks exactly the same

if you mount end on, that means you need more lights, correct? As the side to side spread isn't as big as side on

check out @telegraham on you tube and instagram. He talks about this and uses a par meter and spectrometer to back up his info.

vipar has a better spectrum. and you can modify it easy to take out some of the laser beam effect.

I've had both lights. The original OR's and the current Vipers 300W. I gave up on the Ocean Revives because I was constantly changing out the blues. I do run them at full power with at 30" tank. Neither the ORs or Vipers are daisy chained. You can use one remote but need to program them separately. The clocks do go out of sync about 30 seconds a month. I don't mind it that much because the tank goes dark gradually. The ORs will give a very noticeable shimmer because the Diodes are pretty far apart. The Vipers give a more blended light but still shimmer. I like the color on the Vipers better, it seems a more natural daylight. The Vipers are a good value for the money but time will tell if they last longer then the ORs.

I have had my vipar 165w and 300w for 3 years so far with no issues. will be going to 2 more vipers over my main tank. need more punch then I am getting with my current setup

so if I go the vipars, I have a choice of 165 w and 300w. The info says only 2 needed of the 300's but the core of the 2 doesn't go the width of the tank. 32 inches x's 2 isn't the full 72, but just the center of tank?

Would I be better of going 3 165's or 2 300's, or 3 300's. Would that be overkill

what your tank dimensions? not sure if you already mentioned. I am always a fan of more fixtures as it spreads the spectrum out more easily.

Spectrum on the ocean revives is goofy. Plus the company is completely dissolved. So you can’t get any service for them.
