ok been running t5 for about 1 1/2 tryed ever bulb combo out there. yesterday i was at the lfs found this amazing acro frag so i got it .went home dipped it and put it the tank damm it is the ulgyist coral i have ever seen what the heck
so i am done with this t5 lights going back to my old set up 2 250 watt mh with old school vho sorry i am just venting:cry:

cant come up with the cash two kids house wife that dont work. just not in the budget and can u really grow sps under leds have not seen alot of tanks with led and sps yet

I'd blame your bulb combo. I have better color with my t5s.

led's in 450-465 nm range really make certain corals pop, add some leds to your T5's and you will see some different colors

I been growing SPS under LEDs for over 10 months now... not sure why you would say that jerl. Misinformation is bad.

i can almost garuntee your dip took the color right out of it!!!! what are you using???? i get alot of sticks and when i dip with revive it takes the color right out of them and then it takes a couple weeks to come back....

Don't know what fixture u have bit over my frag tank I have a current 8 bulb t5 fixture with all uvl bulbs. My bulbs combo is 5 454's, 2 super actinic, 1 75/25.
I get bed to the bone colors and growth is still there!!

btw i moved my frags from the display to my frag tank i set up... display is radiums and vho super actinics... my frag tank is lit by 4 blue+ 2 uvl actinics and a aquablue, figi purple.... the colors were insane when i took them from the display and first moved them into the frag tank after a couple weeks i bleached most of sticks...:( i had the t5s like 6" off the water and the frags sitting 6" down in the water... anywho maybe you need to move the lights up??? not sure what set up you have going on....

agree heartily with Troy, the best way to destroy an SPS's color (at least for a time) is to dip them. I figure it's the cost of preventing pests from transfering, so look at my beautiful stick, then sigh and dip it, and then turn away for 2-3 weeks while it recolors.

I've had best colors ever under my T5s, and have taken several sticks from halide tanks that weren't looking great, put them in my T5 setup and they're popping.

What brand fixture are you using? If it's a lower end one, that might also be the problem-just not pushing enough output.

using an 8 bulb tek fixture on a 120 gallon tanks just dont semm to color up for me even my yellow milli thats was amazing under mh now it just yellow water has stay the same over the past 1 1/2 so it ant that tryed adding aa to the tank got the blues to color nice but it just dont look the same as when i had mh and the only thing i change is the light running 4 blue + 2 12k 1 fuji purple 1 atinic +

i agree with most of these comments on here i must say. i started with a 14k 150w, in a nano tank, and got pretty good color with great growth. moved up to my 30 breeder, and immediately switched to an old used 4-bulb T5 fixture. even tho the reflectors were made out of what seemed like coca cola cans turned inside out, and there was only one covering all 4 bulbs, it still gave me great color. but without a doubt, i must have tried, and DESPISED, 6,8, maybe 10 diff combos of bulbs. finally i just threw all blue bulbs on there and loved it, and my sps never looked better. til i switched to LEDs recently.

now, i had added a blue reefbrite led strip to my T5 a couple months ago, and it started giving a whole new dimension of color that i never experienced before. but when i fully switched over to LEDs (and RIGHT before i was gonna purchase a nice 6-bulb Tek Elite T5 fixture), the color has been even better, and all my acros seem happy. have i had it for long? no. so i can't say if i will get same growth as i did with halides then T5s. but i know many people who do. but if u wanna stick with your T5s, like everyone said, jus find the right combo. it'll take multiple tries, but it can be done. thats the beauty of T5. mix-n-match however you wanna.

as for the dip, i wholeheartedly agree. i will never take a chance anymore with any SPS, even if it came from a friend who i knew had it for years. i use a light revive mixture, and know that i am gonna drain all the nice color out of it for a little while, but it's worth not having pests. anyway, i hope u can find the bulbs or fixture that works for you, and if u really wanna go back to 250s and VHOs, so be it. some people definitely have switched back, and have loved it, so you do whatever you feel will work. best of luck

i have tryed over 30 t5 bulbs to get color i got nothing i am a 16 k man love i little white but still have to pop
anybody have a bulb combo before a smash this fixure?

This is a 15-17k look in my eyes. I love the color, too.

ok i will try that combo now
mabey i will add reef brites leds to the t5s?

YES!! like i said jerl, after i added the reefnrites it COMPLETELY changed the way i looked at my tank.

i'm not gonna lie, before my very last combo, which was literally 4 blue bulbs (i hated any white look at all), i used to look at my tank when all the bulbs were on and kept saying "i am jus not satisfied" then i saw breakin newz's tank. my goodness. it was all the blue i ever wanted in a tank. he had a 5-bulb fixture (aquatinics if im not wrong) but the main diff was the reefbrite blue strip. so, my next purchase was a blue strip. and it added all the blue i needed. it was a perfect addition, and i was actually able to switch back to 3 blue and 1 12k bulb in my T5 fixture, so i could get a little growth back.

i promise you the reef brite will change the way you look at your tank, and it also added some hues to my acros that i never thought existed. HTH

ok you guys have some pics for me yet? i want to see some color
