I don't have any crazy nice SPS's, but I'm still pleased with the colors on the ones I do have. The "frag tank" and the main display tank are both running teklights. the display tank is (geismann bulbs)

This gives a really rich blue, just a tad whiter than when I had a stand alone 20k halide on an old tank. I like that rich blue, but not a total actinic looking tank.

I agree with the led supplement. I just added one to my setup. I have an 8x54w ATI powermodule and was happy with the overall color. But I saw a friends tank with the leds and had to give it a go. I added 24 x3w royal blue leds, and holy moly. Like stated before, it will change the whole look of your tank. I actually stood back and thought, this tank is amazing now. I can even notice them on over my powermodule.
It is worth every penny I spend and more in my opinion.

I think T5's look great if you have a LOT of blue bulbs. Otherwise I prefer Metal Halides over T5's. We have both T5's and Metal Halides at our shop and the T5's seem to make certain colors pop while Metal Halides seem to make all colors pop.
If you plan to keep the T5 fixture then like others have said, a Reef Brite fixture will make all the difference in the world. We have one Reef Brite and it really makes the coral glow.
In the end many people recommend T5's while others recommend Metal Halides and LED's. Myself, I like Metal Halides above all.
