Another thing you got to consider is that the Achilles tang needs SUPER high flow like Tunze Streams for long term health. They live in surge areas in the wild.

Hi everyone, just browsing... The achilles tang is the only fish that my LFS will not give its usual 2 week guarantee on. They have such a poor survival rate, even moorish idols and copperbands seem to do better in captivity.

Got the big blue carpet from Donny (and a nice Rose anenome that someone brought back for a better price than when he first had them- I wanted one then). Both look pretty happy so far.

hey susan, I dont want to detur you from buying your clowns locally, but if you can wait till the frag swap we have a guy from knoxville coming that breeds clowns for a living, all my clowns have come from him, they have great color and personality, and it will save you some bucks.

I guess that you all know I stupidly took the risk of another powder blue tang and it has since died of ich. I'm swearing off powder blues. I have never gotten one to live (though *I* haven't KILLED them, the ich has- Brandon has reserved a perm place on the crap list, but what else is new?).

Anyway, my onyx now have spots and are eating less. I'm using the vitae chem on the food and they are eating brine, but not mysis (so I'm continuing the brine for them). The GSMaroons look fine so far.

Patrick, where can I get the ZOE stuff? I should use that too? The big blue carpet looks ok, and looks more ok than not now, but you never know. My Rose split. I'm not sure that I want to keep the smaller half. Should I attempt to sell it at the swap? I've got a 10gal tank I could bring if anybody has room on their table. I'm not sure I could sit at a table all day since I think I'm going to be helping run the food....

Im going to try and setup a tank of some sort to sell out of susan, so if you need me to I can sell it for you. As for the ick, are you running the UV? Im kinda thinking something isnt right with the tank. not trying to scare you, but you lost a powder blue, your carpet was stressing, your clowns have ick. there are several things going on. Have you checked all the basics? (salinity, Copper, Stray voltage, large temp swings.)

As much as I hate to admit it...I agree with Bryan Susan. Sounds like something is not right. Too many negative things going on right now. Be sure to check everything you can check...

start soaking your food in either liquid garlic or chopped up slivers of garlic. Mix the food, garlic, and sw from you tank together let it soak for 10-20 minutes. feed your tank. This WILL help you fish fight off infections like ich as it WILL boost their immune system. I would only feed garlic once a week though.

Salinity is ok at 1.023, I don't have a copper test, but the rest of the corals and the rose anenome look fine. My UV is running full time, but it's for a 100 gal system, so it's too small (why I wasn't worried about putting it on a timer) to kill everything in the tank.

Onyx clowns are now dead along with a rock blenny. Dragon goby is not visable (not even dead body). GSMaroons look fine. Naso and Tomini tang, coral beauty angel, fairy wrasse, coris wrass, scooter blenny and a couple of others look fine. Newer (since the initial ich ordeal -powder blue, 2 onyx, dragon goby dead- 2 GSM still ok). The rock blenny survived the initial ordeal, so I'm not sure what's up with that. I've got some garlic and I'll start that. I'm soaking in SW and VitaChem.

You don't think the ich thing now can be just related to the powder blue being stressed and infecting the other fish? The onyxs weren't really big (though the GSM are smaller). And the powder blue is due to the low ph, low alkalinity. Alk got down to 6 dkh (german scale per tropic marin). I figured low o2 would really stress it since they are sensitive to that.

Temp swings might be a few degrees down at night and warmer when the MH come on, but so long as I leave the sump/fuge doors open, it's not as bad.

I don't know how to check for stray voltage, but with all the equipment running, I'm sure that's a possibility. My husband has all the usual man tools in the garage, but I'm not sure that any of them would want to have a part stuck in the water.

Rose nem split looks good. Blue carpet looks more back to it's usual state, but still not wild about eating and wanting to move around. I wouldn't mind keeping the extra rose nem if it will settle down somewhere and not move around as much. It's color is beautiful. If it stays on the move, I'll take you up on the offer of space in your sale tank Bryan (thanks).
