I use a solarmax fixture that has LED supplementation and cost a fraction of that Giesseman. I have an extra one if your interested, I bought 2 of them since I had to ship them from singapore.

T5 bulbs are expensive but the Fiji Purple is sweet I run mine for 4 hours a day to make them last and save on electricity.

Here is a pic of my DIY retro over a 10' Tank. I do now have T5 reflectors BTW. You have to buy the clips separately:neutral:

I would go 6 bulb. The amount of bulbs is not going to account for the depth. It will cover a larger area and give more spread. being 18 in front to back. The 6 bulb is perfect for that tank. having that deep of a tank will allow you to keep lower light corals like acans down low and sps up higher.

Make sure you get good bulbs. I would suggest ATI, KZ, aquascience or giesmann.

6 bulb combo

For blue bulbs I would suggest the ATI blue + , kz super blue or giesmann actinic +
for whites the ATI aquablue special 12k
and the fiji purple.

3 blues, 2 ati aquablue specials and a figi purple is great.
