I've had one since about 1988. It gets used only when I do a major cleanup, so maybe twice a year. I also had (and would buy another in a second) a System I Diatom filter. Although it had a smaller capacity it was so much easier to use.

Same here. I run it periodically. Zero disease ever, happy fish. I also run it whenever I introduce anything. It is truly amazing what these filters can do. I am surprised so few of us use them....

Diatom filter...would never have a tank without one. Everything they say is true.

Like 2 months ago in Huntington Beach California they were selling one, 35 bucks but it would have been a hassle for me to go pick it up I don't live around the corner.

It's amazing but they still sell these you know some upgrades to it but they look the same.
