Absolutely spectacular tank! If I read that right, this has all grown out in the matter on one year? I'm ditching my Kessil's and putting my MH Radiums back up! I second the nomination for TOTM.
Thanks for the compliment Billwill. I have had good growth over the past year however I started over with the corals that were in the tank previously and have added as needed. I did not restart with only frags. Since I have changed out my MH fixtures a few months ago things are really started to smarten up.
 
Do you have small power heads in your dosing containers for your 2 part?
Yes I find it helps keep things in solution better especially with the alk.

Lol I love the Hawaiian dancer on your skimmer. That thing is a beast!
If she starts dancing I know there is too much vibration in the pumps. :wink:
 
I noticed you had 6 dosing lines. What all is going through the dosers? Apart from the three obvious things.
One is for the main system & the other is for my prop tanks. I run them as two separate systems. I used to run everything together but learned my lesson a few year ago - had problems and lost corals in both the display & frag tanks. Running them separately gives me a back up if something happens and I can use the prop system as a quarantine when needed.

How much two part are you using in that beast?
Not too much yet - about 1400 ML of each alk & ca per 24 hour cycle. My old set up with more large colonies used well over 2 liters of each per day. Mag is generally dosed at a similar value to the others but over the course of a week instead of daily.

Thank you. I do get lost in the reef a fair bit - I often think I will just quickly do something in the display or in the fish room and then 2-3 hours later I am still there. :squigglemouth:
 
I have been having trouble with my piece of strawberry shortcake. It is healthy & encrusting around the outer areas but turning grey with die off in the center. Anyone have any ideas what is going on or suggestions on how to stop it?

That's weird . Almost like its stinging itself. I've never seen burnt tips before butI can cancel that they.
