one spot foxface or a bristletooth tang

I am looking at getting one larger fish for my 75g of course it will be a few months before I add it considering this tank is very young. I already have a pair of occelaris clowns, 3 spot goby, cleaner goby, 1 fire fish, and a green chromis that as soon as I can catch him he will be rehomed, a six line wrasse, cleaner shrimp, and a peppermint shrimp. The tank is also a mixed reef. I am looking into getting a tomini tang or any of the bristle tooth tangs or else getting a one spot foxface.
What are ya'lls thoughts.

I'd go for the foxface. Everyone has a tang! There are some nice rabbitfish out there besides the foxface that you don't see everyday too
Plus if you decide to add more fish in the future you won't have aggression issues like you potentially would with a tang.

That is what I was leaning toward I really don't want to have a normal tank like everyone else. What other rabbitfish would I be able to keep in a 75g mixed reef?

I have had two different kinds of rabbit fish. One mowed over a grand in acans. I think it was an orange spot and the other was a common rabbit fish I pasted to a friend to help with hair algae and it mowed down a bunch of zoas. I would vote for the bristle tooth tang.

Foxface

I got rid of my fifji just because he grased near my corals eating bacterias.Then i got the foxface and blue tang and the foxface ate my feather duster tube i caught it in time before he ate the worm.

So I'm guessing the Fox face it's going to be hit or miss if they are going to be a pain in the rear or not

Yeah they were fine till i didnt put romaine in and thats what happened they also eat when i feed all the other fish as well there always hungry but there about 3" now

I would suggest tangs there some very nice ones all be adding some pics of my new tang im getting.

my blue tang and foxface eat romaine lettuce remove the center I give them one big slice and they finish it everyday so keeps them away from my corals.......

Scopas Tang, Brown Scopas Tang - Zebrasoma scopas

They have some good prices here on tangs i personally havent used them check out there tangs it gives all info if reef compatible for beginners and so on.

Scribbled rabbitfish, siganus doliatus are nice. They can get to about 9-10 inches or so and nicely coloured. They are reef safe with caution though.
Bi colour foxfaces are cool too. Half black and half yellow and they're a little smaller than the scribbled rabbitfish.

Go with the tang .The foxface can harm fish or even kill a fish without even trying just by raising it's dorsal spines . I have seen this done with a Powder blue tang . The tang will be more active also . Good luck to you .

Im thinking about a blue eye kole but I would still like a fox face just because they are so different.

Remember that both fish will grow and a 75 gallon is not huge . Again I wish you the best . The bicolor foxface is a beautiful one also .

To my knowledge they're all venomous and all pretty much the same potency.
In reality other fish will instinctively keep clear of the foxface and it's very unlikely it will hurt another fish. Try to think of all the threads here on r2r where someone found a dead fish with a puncture wound from a foxfaces spines. I bet you can't think of any

I actually read one where a fellow lost a dottyback that went after a newly introduced foxface and ended up dead and also had some punctures in it.
I am only really worried about my 4.5" 3 spot goby who thinks he rules everything.

I have found that fish do not instinctively keep clear of the foxface . For some reason it's the exact opposite . Many of my fish chase the bicolor around my 250 gallon. Mainly the tangs .My bicolor is 5 inches and even the smaller tangs still are aggresive towards it . The foxface does like to eat . Nori sheets which are very high in vitamins do the job as far as the appetite along with romaine lettuce . All the tangs love them also . With regards to the last post I did lose a powder blue from a puncture wound to it from my bicolor foxface and yes they ALL are venomous .

so in a 75 which has a 4" deep sand bed btw so the height is less than normal which would be safest for long term and also less maintenance as I am going back to college full time after 9 years and still teaching full time.
