Opinions of Fed Ex?

I was looking to see if others had a similar experience. Seems so.

And yes, Fed Ex did not care about the animals in their custody... They treated them like any other not living, non pet, package.

And im no tree hugger. Far from. But the point of being conservative is to "conserve" and not waste. That's morally better, better for the environment, respectful to life, and more profitable in the long run.

Fed Ex is a large brainless bureaucracy that takes away all thinking and discretion from its employees.

You're a lawyer... if you feel it is so cut and dry, why not sue them in court?

What I don't understand, if someone pays for a level of service like overnight priority, then why aren't they obligated to hold to that? If they can't because of the area then they shouldn't offer that level of service. That way everyone knows what to expect. Sure Acts of God happen and everyone understands that but more often than not an Act of God doesn't seem to be the problem and obviously after years of doing this they should know which areas of any given country are unachievable for certain levels of service. This is exponentially more important when dealing with livestock!!!

I think this is an overly broad statement - and I think you're being a little over-dramatic to make a point perhaps? UPS has the same problems as FedEx. They are no different - except perhaps if you live in the middle of a city - as compared to elsewhere (like a small town). My guess is there will be more 'delays' in the small town. For example - I happen to know your area pretty well. If I were ordering 'Live animals' - I might ask to pick up the animals at the FedEx terminal at Sea-Tac, as compared to waiting for them to get to Gig Harbor. PS - I know you're switching to UPS - if I were you - I would try to make the same arrangement there. Its only my opinion - that this is one of those things that you should take up with FedEx - via letter, twitter, Facebook, etc - as compared to taking a one-off situation (according to you - you have never had this problem before) - and making it seem like its a common occurrence. I think (not sure) that FedEx and UPS have both changed their policies about delivery times (UPS was the target of the last thread similar to this one). I personally am surprised - that if delayed - Neither takes any responsibility for any 'living thing'. Probably because pet owners and pet sellers order/ship things at poor times.
Look at statistics for last 3 years in shipping

fedex is terrible at their actual function

the problem is their SOPs, routing and driver system. It is antiquated, lacks accountability and there are not repercussions in place consistently

we studied this in logistics for masters courses lol they really are this bad at it. There are times they kick into being good at it.

data doesn’t lie in logistics

I know we want to believe it is just a thing that happens everywhere but sometimes companies are terrible at what they do and a blip in their system causes massive issues

FedEx is that company lol they are a case study for logistics

I am not sure that 'Fed ex is terrible at what they do' - at least looking at several studies. From everything I've read - Fed ex does best - shipping from major city to major city. They do not do as well time-wise shipping from lets say a city to an outlying area - because unlike UPS they do not have an 'in-house' network for all of their ground transportation.

This is exactly the case - and from my understanding - the times FEDEX has most of their issues is shipping to smaller areas, where UPS seems to do better. It is also my understanding - that FEDEX has different 'goals' when it comes to overnight shipping timing - depending on area codes. The problem is that its the SHIPPER that is guaranteeing delivery by 10AM - lets say - when they perhaps have not checked to be sure that FEDEX agrees to that. I.e., if I was a coral vendor - and I was sending coral from Miami to Chicago, I would probably use Fedex. If I was sending coral from Miami to a small town in Maine overnight - I would probably choose UPS.

It's cut and dry Fed Ex does not care about pets they ship to the degree they wont call a driver, let me meet the driver, or arrange a faster delivery then 3-4 hours to drive 5 miles to my house.

There is no contractual liability. And i dont personally sue people, its more effective to make posts like this.

So in other words, you don't have a leg to stand on.

That is a very good point about the accountability of the vendors to not promise what the couriers have not guaranteed. After reading some of the horror stories about shipping livestock via courier I try to buy in-store (which is good to support my local LFSs). It's not only the delays but it's how the drivers handle the packages. I find that shockingly deplorable that they toss, kick, etc. any box but one marked livestock is inexcusable!

As bad as that looks on camera, I guarantee those boxes go through much worse in the high speed scanning/sorting systems in most any shipping facility.

You're right about that! I'm surprised any livestock arrives alive. It doesn't matter how well it's packed!! :-(

Sounds like you love Fed Ex. Use them. Enjoy your bags of preventably dead fish.

Technically they didnt make my shipment a priority, so yeah any one can sue anyone. You've missed the point entirely.

I had FedEx overnight shipment from Thursday for Friday, first it was delayed and then I didn't see it until the following Monday for priority overnight, LOL, needless to say you guys know what follows.

I live in DFW and went to a school with a very strong logistics program

they are terrible relative to their comp for the last 24-36 months lol they are hiring and holding contests all over the US to try and fix it lol

They definitely have to do something. I think most of the complaints I've seen are with FedEx. Weren't they the defacto shipping company at one time with reliability as their biggest asset? How the mighty have fallen. ;-)

I usually dont buy from places that ship with fedex i hate them that much lol SBB currently moved to UPS because of that too.
