Opinions on miracle mud?

Also, to answer another question back, I would add it from start up If i were you, only because it takes some time to settle, and I have heard other people that seem to get the best results after the first month of it being in or so, even when changing theirs on established systems, they still said that after a month or so it really seems to kick in... I wouldn't know haha, but this is what I have heard...

I know in my tank I also didn't switch it out at about the year mark because I was upgrading tanks and I wasn't taking any of the old sand with me, but was able to use the same fuge, so I figured id bring all the good established bacteria with me if I didn't change it, and the new tank didn't cycle at all.

Well only thing im going to transfer to the new system is going to be the live rock rubble from the current refuge. Everything else will be all new set up.

its not to shorten the cycle time... the best feature is the trace elements it adds to the water for corals and system health. Instead of running a 5" deep sand bed in the refugee you add 1" - 1.5" of the miracle mud and its supposed to be much better for the system. Some people claim to almost double the growth rate of corals and polyp extension.

Actually the best feature is its denitrifying capabilities. If used correctly, you will most likely never have a nitrate problem. The key is having the correct surface area of mud for your bioload along with the correct amount of flow over the mud.

What would be the considered flow to surface area ratio?
