Op's on acclimating possible gift green long tentacle anom.

This long tentacle if in a friend's 75.he's had it for 6 yrs it's about the size of a small paper plate.
He's breaking this tank down & getting out of the hobby. He's also hinting he want's to give it to me !
I think this monster would look real nice in my 180 . The color is more brown at this time & his water conditions aren't so hot . There is also a "big, mean" chocolate clown that he wants to go with the nem. That's the catch .
So Should I try to match the lighting ? I can easily match the par but will need to increase over time .
What about water parameters? I check a few. salinity 1.025 ,o np3 or Po4. Dkh was high at 10 +.
So far I know they prefer to put the foot down thru sand. I can offer it sand & differing flow conditions easily enough. I do have quite a bit of flow now.
I would think matching it's conditions woild help in the move. Not sure about the nutrient levels & the alk is higher than my likes. I keep this fish only (kind of) at 7.6 .
will I need to raise it or will the drop be a strain?

You can see more of the tank in the 2nd pic.Give You an idea of tank conditions. The lights are a couple of flouros & a small double ended MH I think. It's not a lot of light.
This anem is in a shaded back corner. it looks ok, the mouth was nice & tight & tentacles were full but not real long. My buddy's tank has not been maintained very well, no water changes in some time. I think he just tops off . The tank is full of algae & Kenya tree
I mean a front to back,corner to corner Kenya forest. this is why I can't test any nutrients . There is a huge Pajama cardinal & "large" chocolate clown . That's it.

I changed the title of this thread in an effort to draw some interest & add more info.
So I plan to carefully pry the thing off the glass this a thin plastic card.
Match lighting as best I can. Ya think more light right off would appeal to the nem?
Not sure on acclimation. I can find this info easily enough.
I will unplug the powerheads Can I leave the 2, 250 gyres I have mounted high on each end? My tank is a standard 180 ,6 by 2 by 2 ' dimensions. It's been up & running since July 2016. However I consider it still new because there has been very little live stock.

I would get your tank at NSW conditions at least and then do a slow acclimation on the anemone before introducing it, I'm talking a couple hours of drip acclimation until the parameters in the container match the ones in your tank.

I also think you're right about doing a slow ramp up on the lighting, don't want to blast it with light since it's been living quite a while with so little.

The LTA will need to be acclimated very slowly. Several hours is best especially if parameters are very far apart. Remember, anemones hold the seawater. That is a large difference in Alkalinity. Perhaps a QT if you can and do it really slowly. You mentioned sand which is of course true. As deep as 3” bed is optimum. Check the foot when you get it too, but it sounds like it is fairly healthy despite the state of that tank.

This is no joke. They have big teeth and are terrors in my experience. I would take the anemone and see if a LFS would be interested in the Clownfish. They can usually find takers for big fish.

That's a good point but I don't have it yet. He's been hinting around for quite a while. He did say" Ya gotta take the clown too there are buddy's". So we shall see .I just want to be ready if it happens.

I would start with a 5 gallon bucket 1/4 full of water from the old tank and end with a 5 gallon bucket 3/4 full. It would take you months to try to match an Alk change that dramatic if you tried in a QT.

You probably don't want to match nutrients of that tank or yours would probably be a mess as well.

If your tank is doing well I wouldn't make drastic changes to the parameters personally. What is in your tank currently? You mentioned fish only Kind of, that's doesn't help much. What is the kind of?

Oral disk looks like a LTA, would need a photo of the underside to confirm 100%
