Plan and simple the best way to figure out what light that would be good for a tank is simple multiply the gallons of your tank by 1 watt per gallon, with reef. if you only have plants that need high lighting multiply by .8. and just fish you can multiply .6 per gal. that is what I pretty my go by. to each their own and the main thing is there is not right or wrong and many way you can go about going reef.

Due to the fact that a large majority of Chinese Imports do not use UL/CE Parts and do not Bin their LEDs we cannot recommend these Imports.

Kessel is a quality light but compared to our Sirius XTC its laks the diversity of Spectrum... Not to mention intensity...

PAR is another consideration... Our Design Team, myself included designed the Sirius XTC to replace a 400 watt MH Radium bulb using a Reflector. PAR Values at 24" were measured at over 400. Designed coverage was a 30" Deep Tank with sand bed PAR values of over 200 covering a 24" x 24" square.

Doubt the Chinese Imports can do this while only consuming 160 watts at full power and offer a three year warranty...

As far as watts per gallon NOOOO

LEDS ARE NOT T5 or MH!!!.... Binned Cree X Series can be up to 50% brighter than generic 3 watt Chinese LEDs. Add the Efficiency of the powersupply and driver and the force multiplier optics... Their are much more variables when comparing LEDs not to mention the number of counterfeits on the market. I have measured over twice the PAR from our Sirius XTC per watt compared to some popular fixtures.

Yes, a common comment is a $300 LED light is disposable. Compared to 6 T5s, but ask yourself if it has the same spectrum, if the parts are UL/CE safe and what about the stress your corals will suffer after 18-24 months when you replace this fixture and it comes in the mail two weeks later...

Please don't take this the wrong way, but that list is perhaps the worst list ever created for reef tank LED's. I highly reccomend BRS tv's videos on the different lights out there, they offer a ton of pros / cons for each light along with par values throughout the tank that I think would be very valuable for you and allow you to form your own opinion on reef lighting. Their 52 weeks of reefing has some very informative videos on all the different types of lights (t5, halide, led, mixed) as well. Just my 2 cents, good luck and I hope you find a solution that works for you.

OK, so it takes 2 fixtures running at 100% power to get a PAR of 70 to 100 at 20" to 24" deep in the tank.

That's about the minimum PAR I would accept at 20" deep and that's OK. But at 100% power that means you have to run some colors of leds you may not really want to run. Yes, my Reef Breeders Photon V2 costs more, but I can run it with no red or green leds, the 2 blue channels at 80% and the white and violet channels at 20% and I still get 100 to 150 PAR at 20" deep.

So the newest Current fixture is OK, but it's far from great. There old fixtures were good for shallow tanks (12") and the newest fixture is good for 16" or 18" deep tanks, or even 24" deep tanks if you don't have demanding corals and don't mind running both fixtures at 100% power and like the color.
