Sweet little nano, wish I had the discipline to setup such a small system. How do you mange water top-offs? Just add some each evening? Do you plan on adding any SPS?

Very nice! We just got a 16gal nuvo. Can't wait to set it up!

Be careful with the Nuvo 16. I returned mine, and got the 8 instead. Pump is loud, but more importantly be sure to check the silicone in the sump. Fill up the sump with some water and be sure water isn't leaking back into the display from the sump.

I just top off with distilled every other day. Might add an ATO down the road, but I like to keep things simple.
Birdsnest (SPS) is in there now as an experiment to see if it will grow.

I believe that only happened in a small batch as far as I know and that issue appears to have been taken care of .. sorry to read yours had an issue
(btw I am not associated with them)

Quick update -

Battling ich. I know it's a long shot, but I'm using kordon ich attack in double doses. I don't have a quarantine tank, and I have already lost the clown goby. The clownfish seems to be doing better since treatment started the other day.
Wish me luck

Hopefully that is not copper based as if you have corals in there they do not tolerate copper and once you have it in the tank it is just about impossible to get out ... The first post lists corals and that is why I am asking ...

It doesn't have copper. 100% reef safe for corals and inverts.
No losses in 3 days of treatment

Oh it is that new homeopathic type treatment right ? A friend of mine who keeps FW told me about it but since I do not get ick in my tank I have not seen the product yet

Yep, an herbal treatment. I'll be sure to report back here if it's effective or not.

A few more spots of ich have appeared on the black clownfish. The orange has a couple more as well on its upper fin. If the Ich Attack is working then these new ich spots were attached to the fish before treatment started 3 days ago.
Both fish are still acting normal so that's a good thing. Continuing to double dose the tank, and feed them good food.

As a side note purigen and CPE were both removed before treatment started.

Uhm, a quarantine tank is really cheap if you need to use the un reef safe stuff. Good luck man

I'm curious how a simple 5 gallon tank with a heater and a simple filter is any more time consuming than taking care of your tank. It takes less than 5 minutes a day....
Well anyways, hope your fish get well soon

I travel a lot for work, and I am gone 2-4 days at a time. While my wife usually is able to help out with things, she is in her third trimester with our first child. So the daily routine of monitoring water parameters, dosing meds, and changing water in a quarantine tank is a no go right now.

It's not like this is a 120g system with thousands invested in livestock. If the fish make it, they make it. If they don't, I'll leave the tank running without fish for a couple months until the ich dies.

Well that explains it!
At any rate ill be watching to see how this turns out man -)
