Yep, an herbal treatment. I'll be sure to report back here if it's effective or not.
A few more spots of ich have appeared on the black clownfish. The orange has a couple more as well on its upper fin. If the Ich Attack is working then these new ich spots were attached to the fish before treatment started 3 days ago.
Both fish are still acting normal so that's a good thing. Continuing to double dose the tank, and feed them good food.
As a side note purigen and CPE were both removed before treatment started.
Update on the ich - had a few spots of ich pop up over the weekend on the clowns, but all spots are now gone as of today. I don't think I am out of the woods yet, so I will continue double dosing the tank every day. Corals and inverts are still accounted for with no losses.
My wife looked into the tank this morning, and we lost both clownfish overnight. Not sure if the ich got both of them, or if there was a spike of something else(nitrate, etc). Corals look just fine as well as the inverts though. Won't be able to check parameters until I get home this evening.
In any case my plan is to do a big water change tonight when I get home, and reinsert the purigen/CPE.
I have read elsewhere that I need to let the tank sit for 8 weeks with no fish in order for the ich to die off. Anyone know if this is true?
Sorry to read about the losses. I do not think it is the nitrate level but more than likely the ick that was in their gills and basically got them unfortunately. Yes a water change and checking parameters is what I would recommend as well as you suggest. It could be that something else died and created an ammonia and/or nitrite spike and that is what got to the clowns. Hard to tell at this point, and sorry about the losses
Thanks Albert.
May not get home now until midday tomorrow, but I'm sure it will all be fine. I did a water change 4 days ago.
Water parameters all checked ok, and water change done. Now the waiting period begins...
In the mean time I'll add corals to the reef, and keep feeding the inverts.
Update with pictures -
Water is crystal clear again with purigen and CPE back in the sump. One green sinularia is hunched over, but the other is up. Everything else is looking great and growing!
Will coralline algae form on its own, or does it have to be introduced into the aquarium?

but you will see them on your rock as well. Sometimes they start off as a greenish color that turns into the typical dark red or pink that you normally see in pictures. Thanks for the info on the coralline. Not sure if I actually want to seed the tank with it. Looks like it can be a pain to keep under control once it gets going! On the other hand, it does make a reef tank look complete.
Thinking of getting a torch coral to put behind the GSP. I also have 5 more ricordia on order through a group buy. Will place those on the middle left rock.
Also, the Acan is currently placed in the sand under medium flow. Seems to be doing ok. Is this the best place for it?
