Orphek Atlantik v4

Congrats!!

Very nice light. Despite the fun we have online debating various lighting merits, realistically we are at the point where chemistry, flow and nutrition are what makes the tank and lighting (within reason) is pretty minor.

Exactly. I also plan on buying a gyre, I just don't like the flow in my tank with the mp40 and mp10. But I was just happy to make a decision on lighting

I only did active duty, so I don't know much about reserve life. I imagine it's harder to juggle work and being on deployment. Good luck.
It is yeah, wish I went active instead but my contract is done in 7 months so I'm fine

I have a gyre. Not real impress to be honest. I have more deadspot than my friend tanks with MP40.

Well if nothing else, I'll have a gyre, mp10, mp40 and tunze nano in a 54 gallon tank lol I'll run them all on 20% :D

Too bad it's ugly af. And not in usa
+1
Their so ugly with all the cables, it would be a "No Go" from the wife!
They'd remind her of the old MH cannons and cables that we hung in the 1990's. :(

I know two guys over here that have imported them into the US and they have been blown away with their performance. :)

Rented a part meter just to see what my current light was at some I could compare to the mitras in a few days,

Right now at peak lighting (5-6)hours a day, my corals are getting between 275-350 par. Measured with apogee mq510 par meter.

When my t5s are off however my corals are getting between 60-100 par Max. (4-5 hours a day) I don't know what to do with this info but I feel I may have actually been starving my corals and stuff with too short of a powerful lighting period? Thoughts?

Thoughts?
I'm on the heavy side.
9:30am leds start ramping up and hit full daylight settings at 11am.
Then T5's turn on at 11am with the led's and t5's shut off at 7pm.
Then led's ramp down from 7pm to 8:30 pm.

So that's 8 hours of full daylight and my SPS/LPS love it but it could be overkill but that's what RedSeaKev recommended to me.

It did take a lot patients to build up to 8 hours of full daylight and led intensity and I bleached out a birdsnest in the process. I knew that I should have lowered that booger.

What are you running Govols?

4 Kessil a80's at 30% color / 100% intensity with KZ Super Blue T5's.

An engineer at Kessil helped me out and he nailed it. :)

My goal was to save the Red Sea S Series factory 10 bulb canopy that I love and get the Kessil shimmer with the T5 par and fill in for no shadowing.

I bought the $900 Red Sea led upgrade with the Hydra's and that was not going to cut after running 10 t5's.

After the Hydra :(... Kessil helped me with this mod and I've ran Kessil since 2012 when the A350w was released.

What intensities are you running your LED pucks at? I'm assuming that you're running V3 pucks with

Ch 1 - royal blue
Ch 2 - white / lime
Ch 3 - cyan
Ch 4 - violet

I didn't pay for separate channels, so I have white and blue channel. Blue is run at 60% and white is 25% at peak, which puts 80-115 par through out most the tank. Morning and evening ramping would be less of course

I know that you're switching lights but you could definitely run your pucks at higher intensities... as an example, I'm running at

Royal Blue at 80%
White / Lime at 30%
Cyan at 80%
Violet at 90 %

Remember, Dave under drives his LEDs for longevity, so you have leeway in turning them up.

As for your original question, I'm a fan of a short but intense lighting cycles. About a 9 hour total light cycle with an hour ramp for the first and last hour with full intensity for about 7 hours. I'd like to say Ecotech did a study on the effectiveness of shorter but more intense lighting cycles for better coral health.

I agree I could run them higher. But my original point was the fact I don't need a hybrid light when just LED would do me just fine :) I'm not displeased with the light one bit, it's just overkill for me to have and I don't want to keep buying t5 bulbs. I decided I wanted to go either straight t5 and really focus on sps or go led and do mixed. I suck at sps (not the lights problem) so led and mixed reef the choice was

Looks like they have been R2R sponsor since 2016.
And people have been begging for info on a us release since then and still nothing, not even updates saying that they were in the prototype phase or anything

Yes, I'm on that thread and if anyone want's to bump it back up to the top, then by all means... (lol) "Bump It". :D
