Just got back from La Taha'a, which is an island about 50 miles off the coast of Tahiti. Took tons of underwater shots and figured I would post some - it's seldom I get to see this type of ecosytem first hand and though some of you might enjoy the pics. Nothing fancy with these pics...they are straight off of my Canon Powershot SD800IS Elph. I have an underwater casing for the underwater photos.

Lots of clam shots but they were just all over the place - hard not to take a pic of all of them. Reefs were in pretty good shape I must say. I've got tons of video too but have not processed any of it yet to view online. Enjoy!

Thanks Mark...I know man....it's like landing on another planet. We've had the good fortune to travel around to a lot of the islands and motu's there and I can't get enough of it! If only I could score a work visa.....I would cash out here and have my bags packed in 5 minutes! lol

A few more....

Looks like paradise. Haven't had a vacation in years. Thanks for the beautiful pics!

Wow awesome! So how can I go about getting there? LOL! More pics!

Thanks Rev. It's just an easy 8 hour flight from LAX! To get to where we stayed, we also had to take a 1 hour puddle jumper flight and then a 45 minute boat ride from there...but I can tell you...it's worth every mile : )

I'll try and get more pics posted this evening.

nice pics Craig.. looking at it makes me want to have a vacation :(.. thanks for sharing the photos

Thanks for the comments Ian, Steve, and Kraylen!

Thanks for sharing and takes me back to my trip to French Polynesia about 15 years ago. I remember the clams were every where and in all sorts of nooks and crannies. Also remember the clownfish/anemone, a staghorn forest with fish darting in and out for protection, walking at low tide and finding baby octopi and eels, and especially snorkeling with black tip reef sharks. Man, I want to go back right now!

Now thats a vacation. I have not gone anyplace but Cape Cod in years. (Cant even see my toes in a foot of water) I bet you can find a penny in the sand at 20 foot depths there. That water was as clear as it gets. Awesome pics.

wow very nice, great looking clams! Did you eat any of them? I had a crocea fresh off the reef when i was in Fiji

Yeah, the clarity and visibility above and under the water is crazy. We stayed inside a lagoon and you could literally walk a mile in any direction and still be in waist-high water (nothing but white sand below).

Did not eat any of them. They looked too nice! I have several in my tank and I would rather not develop the taste for them...lol

Thanks for the tantalizing pics Craig! Like a sweet dream...
