I asked them if that was a viable solution and was told that the shipping cost and repair would cost more than the unit itself.

LOL, not a bad idea since I was told my unit was not under their warranty after 5 months of use.
I do understand, it was my fault to drop it inside my tank but it was not intentional (Obviously) but their mounting clasp is not firm enough for a rimless tank

No not so much. I have a licensed business here in Washington for electronic repairs. I have been moving more to todays electronics. I repair vintage electronics as my base currently.

I wish I could!
They use SMD (surface mount devices) and just not set up for that. The oven is the most expensive part!

Market is there for sure, apparently these LED manufacturers have poor customer support and opportunity is there for ya!

I agree that Kessil customer service is great. Sucks you dropped it in your tank though. Can't hold them responsible for user error though

Sorry to hear about your light. What exactly was the issue with the mounting system? Even with the spacer it wasn't secure enough on your tank? What is the thickness of your tank walls? I've mounted my kessil all types of ways and with the spacer and 2 thumb screws I always felt it was very secure. I would like to know what happened with yours though so I can double check mine to make sure it's not an accident waiting to happen.
