so I have been doing vodka dosing for about a month and everything has been doing fine..... until I set up my dosing pump and put it on the wrong outlet, outlet 3 which is not good for dosing pumps. It did not shut off when it started dosing and emptied about 1/2 of my vodka bottle into my tank. I have been monitoring my apex fusion today and noticed my low ph so I rushed home from work. my water turned cloudy and my ph dropped to 7.36 . When I got home about half of my fish were dead and the rest look to be goners also. I feel like they are just suffering and I should just put them out of their misery but I guess I will wait to see if they make it. I raised my mp40s a little higher to get more surface agitation and am running my skimmer wet which will hopefully help,

Dead

1- yellow tang
4- lyretail anthias
1- diamond goby
1- melanurus wrasse
3- green chromis
1- Starry Blenny
1- fox face
1- copperband butterfly

barely breathing

1 purple tang
3 chromis
2 clowns

Sounds like you have done about everything you can. Sucks to have a tank crash like that. I know nothing can make it feel better. Tough lesson to learn. Sorry for your loss.

Thanks, I guess the positive is I learned from my mistake, won't make same one again, and my wife sees the disappointment in my face and said when I'm ready that I can go spend $1,000 on my tank. Slowly restock fish and get a few more coral, Slowly.

Well I just tossed the purple tang and last 3 chromis, only 2 clowns and a diamond goby left breathing. I don't think they will make it over night though.

Awe :( I know how this feels but it was velvet that got mine. Sorry this happened. Maybe with the 1k you can set up a qt for emergencies. Or simply a second smaller tank? Just so you have something that you can use as a rescue.

Never had a quarantine before, might b an option. Guess I need to read up on them, never really saw the need for them before.

I live in the south and can keep a 20L set up in my garage. Very simple setup. A light, hob filter and I use my DT removed wc water to do water changes on it. This way it doesn't really cost anything to run except for 50x heater with pump and light on a timer. This way I always have a place to put a fish in a hurry if I need to. It has come in handy a few times and was worth it.

Yeah new beginnings. I've done 2 30gallon water changes and water is still cloudy. I am going to set up a small temporary tank to transfer my coral to and then drain my tank and do a 100% water change. My ph is down to 7.4 right now. Going to have to start over. Can u see the difference from the first two pictures compared to the 3rd and 4th pictures?

Just be careful not to disturb the sand bed and you should be good :)
