Overdose/bad day

How's it doing now?
I think I lost everything. I rinsed the coral with clean saltwater and then put it in a big ice chest with clean saltwater, a circulation pump, and a heater last night but when I got home from work today the water looked real dirty. I couldn't do anything until I cleaned my sump so I can transfer everything there. I finished cleaning my sump and transferred everything and I lost my candy cane, torch, frogspawn, anenomes, all my montys are bleached, my last sps are goners also, it's just been a real bad day. I am going to finish filling it this weekend and transfer everything back to the display and see what I have left and then restock. The one coral I hope will make it is my toadstool, that thing was getting big. This is going to take me a long time to recover from.

I am really sorry :(

What state are you in?

I'm in FL. I have a bunch of extra coral that I would give you, I just hate to ship. Had bad luck shipping ups overnight and fedex is an hour drive from me one way.
Wow, that is an awesome gesture. I would hate for something to go wrong since you have already had bad experience with ups. Was the package delayed or handled improperly/ broken coral? If you would be willing, I would definitely appreciate some coral to help get me started again. Also, I have a local friend with a 300 gallon that said he would frag a few corals for me. That would definitely get me on the right track. Once again thank you very much for the offer. I am really loving R2R. I haven't been on here long, I was always on another popular forum( not sure if allowed to list) but I can definitely tell a difference in activity and enjoy this forum more.

You're welcome :) We call this PIF pay it forward. All we want from the person we choose to help is for them to pay shipping and someday do the for someone else in the same or similar situation.

Sent 2 15 lb boxes to GA, one was lost for 2 days and the other didn't deliver until 9pm (very late). In all 62 corals were lost and weeks of work. But they did reimburse shipping.

Reef2Reef is a great forum! Only bad attitudes is frowned upon here lol. We're all here to help each other and learn [emoji6]

I pm'd you

Sorry for your loss that really sucks. You've had some great advice here and as prsnlty said even if you don't have it running get a second 20g or something that you can setup in a pinch. Then you can transfer fish with fresh saltwater if things ever get really bad. Always good to have redundancies but the only one I could think of for vodka is limiting the liquid in your dosing container and refilling every week or couple of weeks.

My son is in Baytown :) I used to live in Irving (and other dfw towns), San Antonio and El Paso. San Antonio is my favorite. It's also where I got into reefing

I love San Antonio, great food. I got into reefing cause my brother had a tank and was in a bad motorcycle accident and could take care of it anymore, it was a free tank. Boy I didn't know anything. That was 3 tanks ago and thousand and thousands of dollars later. LOL but with all these problems we come across it still brings me joy.

I hear you, we're addicted! Lol

Sorry to see your tank get wiped out. If there is a bright side, atleast you can change what you didn't like about the last set up.

Saw this on a post here ( Reef2Reef) and though I would share, for those who are looking for a different avenue to ship aquaria. shipyouraquatics.com

Yeah, I changed the aquascape a little more to my liking and moved my tank over about a foot closer to a wall which gives me more room between the couch and tank, so a couple of positives to look at.

On a bad note, besides loosing all my coral, there was allot of die off in my tank and it looks a little dirty even after adding all new saltwater. Tomorrow I will do a 60 gallon (~33%) water change and start mixing some water to do another 60 gallon on the weekend, check parameters and put a cleanup crew in there.
